I graduated University more than 16 years ago? Gulp. I’m getting old.
Every year my old roomies and I get together at my place for what is now a long standing tradition of catch up, gossip and what’s up.
I’m proud of us for keeping in touch.
We have seen each other through:
boyfriends
heartache
marriages
career choices and changes
babies
cancer
pain
joy
fear
death of parents
we may not be physically close, but when it counts, we are there.
Each year we celebrate.
We laugh until our sides hurt.
We confide.
We cry.
We also eat and drink.
The food, in a word, is ridiculous.
Why is it a grown woman will eat to the point of feeling sick?
I am certain that as I lounged around the pool just nibbling, I consumed as many calories as a linebacker before the big game!
I ate cheeses and dips, seafood’s and chocolates, chips and cakes.
And I do not apologize. It was glorious.
I loved every second.
I’m thankful fate (or residence assignment) brought these three intelligent, beautiful, caring and sensitive women into my life.
I will tell my daughters…boyfriends will come and go, but if you find a good friend, a true friend, you have found a gift. Girlfriends are forever.
Can’t wait until next year so I can once again embrace the gluttony.

I think it’s wonderful that you keep up with your school friends because not enough people do that and as for eating eh, as long as you’re not gorging all of the time you’re good to go!

The gluttony is worth it. Once a year isn’t bad if your not counting, Christmas, Thanksgiving & all the other hoildays that we eat all we can. There’s nothing like a real friend.

There’s 4 of us who get together every so often to just catch up… it’s literally just like the old days and I never want it to end…

Getting old is only in our mind.
Age never prevented people from doing things:

It’s true that girl friends are forever. And as for the food thing…it should be no other way. đ

So nice to have that group. It is wonderful and bittersweet that life has to change from college fun to real adult issues and drama, but it’s life. And it’s easier to deal with and enjoy with great friends.

Great advice. I have friends from all periods in my life. Some since I was 5, some from high school, college and adulthood.
My childhood friends have definitely kept me grounded.

It’s so hard to find some real, true girlfriends! And isn’t it crazy how much you go through together?
Lady Mama says
The gluttony is part of the fun. I’m definitely one to eat until there is literally not an inch of space left. Nothing like good times with girlfriends.
