Yah Yah. We all know about us Stay At Home Mom’s.
Sitting around all day in our Pj’s watching our “shows” and eating bon bons.
Not a care in the world. No worries, no complaints.
If this is true then what the hell is wrong with me??
My name is ModernMom and I am a SAHM, I am busy and I am a Worrier.
I make lists. My last list was not titled “To Do” of “Honey Do” (one of my favorites by the way). but was actually tittled.
“My I’m Freakin Out and Never Gonna Get It All Done List”
This SAHM is one of the busiest people ever!!
So when I lie in bed at night lately I just can’t seem to turn it off!
On top of the lists running through my head, are these random thoughts:
I wonder if my BlueEyes is right that the wee boy in her class who mames insects and glues them to paper is going to be in jail one day. (ummm can you say serial killer???)
I worry that I have not picked out the right dress for the upcoming charity event. (It’s a fine balance between she looks hot and she looks like she is trying too hard)
I can’t believe I had to turn down another dinner invite from the same couple. They are going to think I’m dodging them. (I am so not.)
I am sure this much chocolate can’t be good for you, and is not going to help me fit into said dress. (Must add buy more Halloween Candy to my Freakin List)
I worry about a girlfriend who is very ill and another who accepted a proposal from her Mr.Big. Sigh.
I wonder why the school my kids attend. A really good school, with an absenteeism rate of almost 25% right now, has not been shut down until our kids can be vaccinated against the swine flu.
I wonder if getting the H1N1 vaccine is even the right thing to do.
I can’t imagine why parents with ill children have to be TOLD to keep there kids at home.
I’m ticked off that I missed garbage day and when it only comes every 9 days or so, this is a big deal.
Another marriage. Another friend devastated. Another family has ended in divorce. This is 4 in just under a year! What is going on?
My head spins back around to a charity event I’m organizing. Ticket sales, seating, ordering wine, centrepieces, auction items……
Then when I look at the clock and realize it’s 3am an I have to get up in 4 hours! Oh you should never do the math!
Sleep comes but it is fitful and full of vivid nightmares.
Today I am whiny and will end up strung out on coffee and rambly. Like this post!
What is my point?
-If your kids are sick. Show respect and keep them home.
-Never underestimate what a SAHM has going on behind those closed doors.
End of Rant!
Wishing you all sweet dreams!

It still happens when they grow up and leave the nest. You still have night tossing and turning!
I have to make lists and I check them twice! I pray for a good nights sleep for all!

MM, I hope you get some rest soon.
I am sure your dress looks divine on you, with the right combination of Muy Caliente and Class.
The Charity event will be Fab, just like you.
Chocolate is always good for you.
Sorry about the swine flu at school, Wow.
Sending you ((Hugs))

Three weeks ago it was parent visit night at Awana…during prayer time, all the kids were saying (with Kentucky accents) “my ma is si-yak with de swiiine fluuuu”…insert pa, sister, uncle, friend, ya git de pikture…then one kid says, “I have uh feeeeeeeeever” and sure enough, he does! Teachers take him out. I am like oh.my.goodness. There is a reason my kids have sanitizer clipped to their jeans!
Didn’t matter! Next day my daughter gets the swiiiine fluuuuuu…days later so does my son. It was lame, but we made it through, and I kept thinking about the 4-year-old boy we prayed for THAT NIGHT in class who was in ICU on a respirator. So many things keep us up at night…I keep giving it up to God because man, my head is full and I can only eat so much chocolate before I can’t fit into my PJ’s anymore, which is something else to worry about all in itself. Hang in there!
(PS I don’t know what I would do either, vaccinate or not. But, it doesn’t matter, we don’t have access to it here anyway!)

I don’t sleep either. But it’s hormone related. I agree about keeping kids home. Why do the schools have to tell us??

I understand ALL of those concerns. I think you’re just like a lot of us – OVERWHELMED! Like right now, I should be paying bills, but I’m socializing with my blogging friends. đ Okay, I’ll sign off and get to it!
Sorry about the insomnia…hope it’s a short phase that will go away soon. I’ve been through that too.
I don’t want to sound like a mother, but your current worries will lessen as you get older. Unfortuantely, other kinds of worries will take its place, but maybe you won’t lose any sleep over it. đ

People don’t know what other people do all day, unless they are with them.
At bedtime everyone is just as tired as everyone else too.

Whine away…it makes you feel better I know.
I have found that those lists seem to help me turn off my brian at night.
ps. I gave up bon bons when I found out they were not enviromentally friendly. :0
Hope all gets a bit calmer for you!

I do the same things too. I always seem to stress over the things I cannot change.

i don’t know about anyone else…but this seems the norm for ANY mom, whether she works outside the home, in the home or whatever.
it’s part of being the mom. We always have too much on our plates and worry about everyone else and the list goes on and on.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Well minus the whole charity event stuff, lol.
I do the same thing at night. And your probably right about the serial killer. Watch Dexter (Season 1)for more warning signs đ

Im a constant worrier too. It’s crazy some days. I’m sure it’s affecting my health. So I’m sure if your a SAHM or a working mom….worrying is worrying.
I’d say breathe….lol but then I don’t follow that advice often either LOL.
I hope you get some sleep soon.

When I’m having one of those, can’t turn off my brain kind of nights, I usually just get up and either have a drink or Blog. Sometimes both!
H1N1? Yes, I’m getting that shot, so is my 3 1/2 year old just as soon as we can. I’d rather deal with the effects of the shot than the flu. That’s the same mindset I used when I had to hold her down for her shots when she was a baby. I hated doing that!

I can totally relate. I really don’t have time for a job! đ
Tania-Dreams2009 says
đ Nothing wrong with your post at all. Actually you can use it as a list heehee.
I don’t have kids but I can just imagine the fear about swine flu. I’m terrified and even more terrified about getting the shot. I feel the worries you have.
From reading your blog for about a week now, I think you will have an amazing charity event and you will pull it off perfectly! Not to mention, look great in the dress you picked! đ
