I am truly guilty of putting fashion before function. I will wear shoes that hurt my feet because they are super cute, put my hair in that pony that is too tight because I am sure it makes me look a wee bit thinner, and am more worried about price point then whether my cotton is organic. Sorry.
However, when it comes to my kids, I take no chances. I buy grain fed and organic when I can, and never skimp on necessities. I am overprotective, and my girls are all kinds of spoiled. I like it this way.
I have two girls. Two very girly girls. They love all pretty things including of course painting their nails. Here is my problem. Have you ever noticed the smell when you pull out your favourite polish and doll up those little piggies? Ever stopped to think about what is causing that smell? Ever hesitated when your kids want to do it “by myself”. Have you ever thought that you don’t want your kids breathing in those junky fumes? Me too.
That is why I was very excited when I stumbled upon Piggy Paint. The polish line with the tag line “As Natural as Mud.”
Just look at what their site says:
Why is Piggy Paint™ Nail Polish the safe nail polish?
- Non-toxic
- Low Odor
- Water-based formula
- Hypoallergenic
- Fun, vibrant colors
- Dries to a hard, durable finish
- Cruelty-free
- Safe for use during Pregnancy
I had to see for myself. The fabulous people at Stortz Associates Inc sent us some Piggy Paint products to review and see for ourselves if the claims were true.
Pictured above is Forever Fancy, Topcoat & Primecoat, Clouds of Candy and Tea Party for Two. (not shown is the Nail Polish Remover)
We got ourselves busy. The only way you could tell there was finger nail painting going on in our house was if you saw it. There was very little smell! The faint odour reminded us slightly of home made play-doh.
The names of these polishes are nothing short of fabulous and the girls loved the vibrant colours!
I have to admit, I think my toes look fantastic in Tea for Two!
We followed the directions to a T which included using the primer and top coat, and helping the drying time by using a hair dryer!
It’s been a few days now. My oldest has changed her colour oh about three times! The Nail Polish remover works quite well on the piggy paint, and again I was pleasantly surprised that there was no offensive odour! At this point, all 30 of our toes are still perfect. There are couple of touch ups needed to the fingernails, but the girls have spent about 9 hours in the pool so that is pretty good! I don’t think the nail polish is quite as durable as some others I have used but it is so much safer! More then a fair trade. I will be buying Piggy Paint for birthday gifts and whole heartedly recommending this product to my friends.
I am very happy to announce that I get to do 2 giveaways! Yes 2!!
