Turns out it’s not my fault that my head is spinning, I wake up in the middle of the night with the cold sweats, I bounce from idea to idea about what comprises the “perfect” 40th birthday in the most romantic city in the world!!!
I just bought too many books.
I have too many opinions. (and perhaps a small addiction to Chapters?)
Three Days in London, Five Days in Paris. Where would you stay? What would you do? New opinions that don’t come from Fodor’s, Frommer’s or Rick Steves’ welcome.

Wow. I can’t decide where to go on a driving summer vacation. That’s way too much for me!

This is SO exciting!!!! You have to go to Versailles, and the gardens are just as glorious as the inside. Notre Dame, Le Tour Eiffel, and L’Arc de Triomphe are also must sees! Oh I could go on, but those are the obvious ones!

I’m so happy for you! I also hope you were able to find some info about the hotel i posted yesterday. It’s quite something, isn’t it?
Gigi says
No advice – just jealousy.
Just kidding. Hope you have an AMAZING trip!

London is great but Paris is Romantic. Go to Paris!
If you choose London there are a zillion things to see and do. I recommend 20 Nevern Square Boutique Hotel for somewhere a little bit different to stay. Now I’m off to convince HWMBO to take me to Paris!
Mighty M says
Oh my, I totally can’t help you at all but I hope to learn from your experiences for when I go (someday)!! 🙂

You mean you DON’T want to come to MOscow??? (haha-just kidding!)
We’ve had a lot of successful trips based on the info in Frommers guides…over quite a number of years and in many different countries, too.
The end of May will be gorgeous for both those cities – and before the big crowds and heat of summer. Nice…
The big predicament? (and it always is!) What can you see in those time frames because you can’t see it all? (Frustrating, I know.)
What did you have in your mind that you wanted to see/do when you chose those cities? There had to be some must-do images in t=your head when you envisioned yourself there. I’d start with that – and get the Frommers books.
My most romantic place was Venice – we went on a gondola boat ride at sunset, sharing at bottle of red wine. That was 13 years ago, and we still talk about it.
Hope this helped!
