Hubby and I went to a sweet little wedding in Toronto this past weekend. I’ve lost track of how many weddings we have gone to over the years but it dawned on me today; it doesn’t matter the size of the wedding, the religion of the bride and groom or the ages of the guests, there are some scary commonalities between each of these unique celebrations:
*There is always the Girl who is so “dressed up” you are sure she is trying to outshine shock the bride. (shorter and um see-thruish does not equal better) “That” girl makes me want to call her Mother.
*You can dress up the ugly people and make them all pretty on the outside, but give them a few too many drinks and their inner ugly will still shine through.
*Just as we all know a leopard will never change his spots; we should also know an MC who is by nature colourful, loud, rude and crude will not become bland, quiet, polite and respectful. That loud MC is going to throw in the dirty jokes, make the bride blush, and do his best to shock the family. Don’t want that? That’s why they created groomsmen.
*Cute shoes will hurt your feet no matter how much time you spend “breaking them in”. Suck it up and pack some Band-Aids.
*Free bars are a mixed blessing.
*No matter how much food is served, you will be hungry when you get back to the hotel. A wise girl packs snacks!
*Old friends are the best friends, and nothing is more comfortable and wonderful then an evening celebrating new love, with old friends.
I have another Wedding to go to on Friday! I shall wear comfy shoes, pack band-aids, granola bars, my sense of humour and be thankful that another friend has found someone they truly hope to spend the rest of their lives with.
PS This time I will take my camera to try and get a picture of the girl in the see-thruish dress. Should I offer to send that picture to her Mother?

I hate going to weddings because there always seems to be a tiff and then everything else you said.

I never understand the girls who show up to a wedding trying to outshine the bride.

So true! We went to two weddings last month and this is all true… except I actually wore comfy sandals to the weddings. They were silver and sparkly, though. 😉

Isn’t that the truth? I can remember going to my hubby’s sisters wedding. It was the wedding when Scott’s girlfriend (ME) was going to be introduced. I found the cutest dress but it was white. I had to take it back because I was told you never wear white to a wedding. 🙂 So glad I didn’t go wearing that dress!

My hubby and I had 13 weddings in one year!
I think you pretty much nailed all of the truths of weddings….except the most important one – always always bring a camera! 🙂
