The UK is one of the many places on my bucket list. I’m one of those girls that can pour for hours over travel sites, soak up countless brochures and still not feel like I have enough information! That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce you to Skyes Cottages. A place in the know! Here is their very special guest post:
The UK is probably not the first place that comes to mind when planning a family beach holiday, but in the summer sunshine the British coastline can challenge the Mediterranean for quality beaches. Sykes Cottages offer a great range of family seaside cottages across the UK, so why not consider some of these great family friendly beaches on your next UK holiday.
Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales
Four beaches surround this great family resort town, and all are lovely and easy to reach. The soft, velvety sand makes them great for small children, with never ending sand castle possibilities! North Beach is probably the best option for families, as it’s easy to reach from the town centre and has a number of restaurants and cafes nearby. The option of different beaches makes this a great family option – there will always be something new to explore. Set the family up in a large holiday cottage along the coast and you’re all set for a relaxing holiday.
Woolacombe, North Devon
This three mile stretch of sand along the North Devon coast has been won numerous awards, including one as the best family resort and the Premier Seaside Beach awards for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. The beach is monitored by lifeguards so you can feel comfortable letting the kids run around and the village itself is filled with enough great shops and restaurants to keep the whole family entertained.
Lyme Regis, Dorset
Lyme Regis is the place to come if you’re looking for the quintessential English seaside holiday. This well known resort, sometimes referred to as ‘the pearl of Dorset’, sits at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, making it a must visit location for the geological minded. An environmental protection scheme ensures that the bathing water is kept clean and safe, which is a piece of mind for parents. Once you’ve tired of sunbathing, head over to the Sailing Club or Powerboat Club and become a temporary holiday member. Otherwise, just relax in the comfort of your spacious holiday cottage from Sykes with a good book and a cup of tea.
There are so many great beaches around the UK and it is a shame that more people don’t consider the UK for a summer beach holiday. If you’re looking for great family accommodation for an upcoming holiday visit www.sykescottages.co.uk and view the full range of great holiday cottage options.

Will check out skyes cottages. Amazing how beautiful the beaches are. I usually stay with family when I am there, but it would be nice to escape for a week

The UK is one place that is on my Bucket List. Love the idea of renting an entire cottage instead of a teeny hotel room, and on a beach too!

I lived in the UK for three years in my early 20’s and I LOVED it. I spent the majority of time in London, but I also lived in Wales, Ireland and Cornwall for three months each. It was amazing…the best experience I’ve ever had.
Loving your blog…it’s so cute. Newest follower.

I wouldn’t think of the UK for beaches either but as a kid living in England we did go fairly often. We used to go to Hunstanton (sp) I remember the long walk to the water at low tide and picking cockles.. yum yum.. must visit again soon.
stuck in the US now.. lol

I never thought of visiting the UK for its beaches. But with four beaches surrounding Tenby, sounds like something to look into.

I’ve been to the U.K. several times, but never during beach season. I’ll have to try to get there when it’s actually warm one of these times. One of my favorite coastal towns in the U.K. is Penzance, Cornwall. I hope you make it to the U.K. soon!!
