Escaped. I did it. I escaped the cold white north, packed up a ridiculous amount of stuff and headed to Florida for TWO weeks! Is there anything better then leaving your real life behind, hitting the road and spending quality time with your family? I don’t think so! Sigh…I love vacations.
My mission on this vacation wasn’t simply to escape the cold, it was also to make some memories with my girls. Driving to Florida. Couldn’t forget it if they tried. A no name hotel room we crashed in for the night? Already forgotten. A four day stay at a resort, walking until our legs hurt through beautiful quiet streets, trying sushi, pool hopping from a roof top pool to a water park all in one day without needing to get in the car? Yep, that’s what I was after, and this is the trip they will never forget.
Of course I am talking about Reunion® Resort and Club. Part of this memory making vacation saw us pulling our Chevy Traverse through the incredible gates and making ourselves at home at the Reunion® Resort.
Located just 6 miles from Disney’s West entrance and a stones throw from LEGOLAND it was the perfect location to launch a family adventure.
We pulled up to the Reunion® Grande, the main building, on a cloudy day and were immediately greeted by what can only be described as a Valet team. Now I must tell you, I’m a bit of Hotel snob with super high standards, and I was impressed by these professionals. They opened our doors, greeted us warmly and knew us by name the very first time we came back to get our car. My daughters…well they were just plain blown away by having their doors opened and hearing their parents addressed as Mr. and Mrs. This was a very good start to our stay.
Check-in, located in the elegant lobby, was smooth and quick. Our Bellman took our bags and met us at our two bedroom, two bath Estate Level Villa on the 4th floor. Hmm A villa on the 4th floor. I’m not much of a condo style living girl so in all honesty, I didn’t expect a whole lot.
I was wrong. As we entered our home for the next four days I had to remember to hang onto some sense of decorum and not jump around like a girl who had just fallen off the back of a turnip truck. As we entered I spied a gourmet kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances. The villa showed off with travertine floors, a spacious dining room, open concept living complete with DVD/CD player and flat screen TV. There was a separate area with washer and dryer, and a spacious dining area. The pictures don’t really do it justice.
To the left, a large master suite equipped with a plush King size bed and a fabulous sitting area. Attached was the bathroom of my dreams. Sunken tub, walk in shower, separate loo, and double sinks. All the comforts of home, and some I will never have.
To the right of the main living area was a second bedroom, set up exactly the same as the Master with the exception of two double beds in place of the King. Just perfect for my giddy girls. Same luxurious linens, second bathroom, and a flat screen TV all their own. This experience, so much better then any hotel.
Off the living area was the fantastic balcony. Sigh. A perfect place for coffee or cocktails. Oh and the view! The course pictured is one of only three signature golf courses at Reunion® Resort designed by legends Palmer, Nicklaus and Watson. A golfers dream.
We settled in as quickly as possible and then went exploring.
To the roof baby! The Eleven Restaurant with a drool worthy menu, and roof top pool. My favourite aspect of this pool, besides it being heated to nearly perfect temperature, was the super cozy place to just sit!
As it was late in the day. it was quickly decided that we would grab some grocery’s and create a feast in our gourmet kitchen.
On our way out we took a drive through Reunion®Resort past the other styles of accommodations available for rent. From Deluxe Level Villas to the largest of palatial Estate Homes, there is something for every kind of gathering, for every size of family.
Finishing up our tour, we made our way back past the main building, through the guarded gate and off to the grocery store!
Reunion® Resort is really ideally located. Not only is it only about six miles from Walt Disney World®, Universal Studios®, SeaWorld® and the closest resort to the brand new Lego Land, but it is a stones throw from major grocery stores, pharmacy’s, fast food joints, restaurants and coffee shops. We loved the location!
We hit the local Publix and were back in our luxury villa in no time.
As I whipped up some fajitas in the completely outfitted kitchen, the kids settled in and watched a movie. The Hubby was busy enjoying the free wi-fi out on that fabulous balcony. This was a very good day.
Turn down service arrived, which we politely declined, and we made it an early night. Tomorrow, we had big plans to check out the golf course and tackle all the pools Reunion® Resort had to offer!
….to be continued.
