Oh how I wish you could smell this through the computer screen, because this my friends is fabulous!!! Ooey, gooey, sinful and delicious. Oh and it’s easy too. Seriously!
When Dempster’s announced a contest looking for recipes using their white bread I just knew I had to throw my Sassy and Sinful French toast into the ring. It’s a little down home comfort mixed with a little stolen yumminess from the last brunch at my sisters house. Ready!?
Ingredients for the Sassy French Toast Casserole Bake:
6 cups of Dempster’s White Bread-cubed
3/4 cup of 2 % milk
1 cup of whipping cream
5 eggs
1/2 cup of white sugar
3 ripe bananas
Dash of Cinnamon
Ingredients for the Sinful Topping:
1/2 cup of butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups chopped pecans
Now it’s time to get your bake on!
-Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
-Generously grease an 8×8 glass dish with butter or margarine.
-Add the bread cubes.
-Slice the bananas and thoroughly mix in with the bread. Reserving one banana to layer across the top, then lightly sprinkle with cinnamon.
-Whisk whipping cream, milk, eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl.
-Pour over bread and bananas.
-Allow to set as you create your sinful topping. Melt the butter in a medium size sauce pan; add in the sugar and maple syrup. Cook for approximately 4 minutes on medium heat before stirring in the pecans.
-Top with approximately 1/2 of the Sinful Topping and put it in the oven for about 40-45 minutes until it is golden brown! Yum.
*Tip try and resist eating this topping straight out of the pot with a big old spoon. You will get burned, trust me on this one.
After you pull this scrumptious bake out of the oven you will want to let it sit for a few minutes before you slice and serve. Adding additional leftover sinful topping, optional. Serving with a side of fresh fruit and bacon, not really optional.
Do you have a fab recipe you want to share? Now is the time to do it!
Click on over to the Dempster’s Facebook page and get all the details on their incredible contest. Submit your recipe and you could be the winner of $10, 000!!
