How to Survive Life in the Suburbs

World’s Apart…

in Travel on 01/30/13

Do you think Mother Nature is taking an extended vacation?  Usually at this time of year I sit at my kitchen table and have a view of snow drifts covering up our play house, squirrels bouncing through peaks and valleys of deep white, and icicles hanging precariously off the roof.  Today all I see is grey.  Verdict, depressing.

Mother Nature has lost her mind!  Rainstorms with thunder and lightning have replaced snow squalls.  Fog warnings are issued instead of winter road advisories.

Driving borders on dangerous.

(and not to worry, I stopped the car before snapping this pic)

It’s dull, it’s dark and it makes the days oh so long.  The thing that is getting me through?  Knowing that in less then two weeks my view will be a whole lot sunnier!  I’m off to check out a Global Resort Home in gorgeous Florida, and the house I drive up to will look more like this!  Squee!  Isn’t she pretty?

The private pool in the back just begging for attention, a built in BBQ worthy of a world class chef!  I am going to have fun getting my Domestic Goddess on! Somehow barbequing by a wee pool while on vacation, just doesn’t seem like a chore!

Sigh, thank goodness for vacations, for sunshine, for family time and all things travel!  I’m shrugging off the grey, counting my blessings and looking forward to making memories with the most important people in the world, my people, my family.

What are you looking forward to most this grey day?

I hope there is some sunshine in your future!

Oh you can find this gorgeous home and so many others at the Global Resort Homes site!

      http://www.globalresorthomes.com/

We are going to be staying in Reunion Resort which is a gated community just a few minutes from Disney. There are a couple of pools and restaurants not to mentions some of the best Sushi ever!!

Global also has homes in so many other areas around Disney; Windsor Palms, Windsor Hills, Emerald Island, Vista Cay Resort..the list goes on and on. Okay, now I’m sounding like an advertisement, but really just a fangirl!

Let me know if you have ANY questions!

A vacation home is such a good idea (especially for young families like mine who need a kitchen, play area and outdoor space).

      Where did you find it?

I must admit grey days here in Southern Ca are few and far between. So much so that when they come I totally enjoy them. It’s chilly here but the sun is still out. But time with family is always the most fun!

We are bummed by the grays here as well. This is the time of year where I appreciate Aussie and South African bloggers–I can hear about the fun in the warm summer sun there and share in their joy.

Florida does it right with the screened in pools… I will have one of those at some point… even if I don’t actually live in FL!

Okay, for real – next time I vacation, I am checking out one of these homes. No matter which hotel I stay in when we travel, it never feels like “home”. This is a huge deal for me, because I hate feeling like I’m living out of a suitcase. I look forward to your review, and enjoy your vacation!

Oh I am so excited for you too. “Grey skies are gonna clear up. Put on a happy face”:) I was singing that for you. Your lucky you could not hear it.
You are going to have so much fun. Family that is the secret alright. B
