My girls have hit the dreaded tween and teen stage. This is a difficult stage for many reasons, not just the obvious of the testing limits and introduction of the boy factors, but because we have hit what has to be the hardest of the gift gifting stages. Anyone else struggle to find just the “right” gift for girls at this age? Sure, there are the usually stocking stuffer’s like nail polishes and lip balms, magazines and candies. Clothes are always a good idea, but let’s face it, my spoiled girls get clothes 12 months of the year. What I strive to find each and every year is a couple of gifts that are memory makers. I know tweens are not the most sentimental bunch, but I am positively bursting because this year, I think I hit Christmas out of the park! Want to know my fabulous idea? Of course you do!! It’s a Mother – Daughter gift. Something for her and something for me. I’ve decided to create a pair of super sweet bracelets for the two of us. (not too matchy because that wouldn’t be cool, but just matchy enough that we will both know I put some thought and love into it!)
I’m accomplishing this impossible feat with the help of Persona. My first step was to jump over the Persona website and check out all they have to offer. They have a lot! “Persona is a collection of stylish and unique jewellery comprised of interchangeable beads and charms that can be worn on bracelets, earrings and necklaces.” There beads/charms are truly beautiful. I started by sweeping through the Persona World Site for myself, then almost dazed by the choices, skipped over to Persona Girl for my tween!
The way to have the most fun with this site? Use the Create Your Own Persona Design Tool to sort through your favourite colours and styles of charms, or skip straight through to the Holiday Beads for some instant inspiration! Warning, you will be sucked in by the sparkle, the uniqueness and the fact that you can create something from the heart!
After much on line shopping and playing with the design tool, I opted to go with a winter white theme for this gift. Although I wear jewellery every day, my SweetGirl does not. I felt she would get more use and adore the simplicity of a grouping of white and silver beads. (plus selfishly, I really like the classic white and silvers)
Here is a sneak peek of my final order.
Cute enough to make me almost like the snow!
SweetGirls charms look like this:
I placed my order and had nothing else to do but wait!
When my box arrived, completed on the chain and all wrapped up in a delightful little orange box I truly had to work to contain myself. SweetGirl was just down the hall and I didn’t want her catching on that a gift for her at arrived on our doorstep.
The charms were far more beautiful then I expected. Delicate yet strong, and on chains sturdy enough to withstand everyday wear by both my tween and myself. I do want to go back and see if there s a safety bead? Something to ensure the beads won’t ever fall off the chains. My SweetGirls final product, it looks like this:
Mine, equally as dazzling!
What I’m most excited about is that I’m creating a brand new tradition in my house. I’m starting with just three beads for my daughter, but with new collections coming out every year, and new little pretties available to help celebrate everything from dance to Easter, to favourite colours, I can add new beads with each of life’s little celebrations!
Next step. Back to the website for me. I can’t have such a sweet gift for one dear daughter and not the other, so time to shop for BlueEyes too!
I think I will throw a pop of colour on this one? Oh maybe not!! Perhaps now that my oldest is almost 15 her bracelet should be more like mine. What do you think, is this a gift that would be well received in your house? Do you have a teen or tween that would like a little bling?
