It has been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Married for more years then he can remember, I must have this happy stomach/heart thing right! With Valentines Day less then 10 days away, it’s time once again to surprise and spoil my partner in life, not by just cooking up a fabulous meal with him, but by taking the time to really celebrate how blessed we are. On Valentine’s Day we always take time to do something special together; and with a tween and a teen in the house this is just about as easy as it sounds!
Some of the special things in the works to help celebrate the years most romantic day? A coffee date for two, a trip to our favourite Chocolatier (to pick up some treats that we will promptly hide from the kids) and then a late dinner! Yes I said dinner for two. We will eat together alone, after the kids have gone to bed!
Want to see what’s on the menu? Of course you do! Our table will be set in a very non-traditional manner. In the family room in front of a roaring fire. Cause I’m all romantical like that. First course. Seafood. The biggest sweetest shrimp I can find and some simple cocktail sauce. Mmm shrimp.
After the shrimp and wine are consumed, because it is practically required to have wine on Valentine’s Day, it’s time for the star of the meal, the main course.
This year, pasta with a side salad and garlic bread! A cinch to whip up so we don’t have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. This Valentine’s Day we have decided to indulge in Rainbow Beef Tortellini Oliveri® in a butter sauce for me…
and Alfredo Sauce for the Sassy Hubby.
Here’s how you can quickly make this at home:
What You Need:
- 1 (350 g) Package Olivieri® Beef Rainbow Tortellini
- ¼ cup (60 mL) Butter
- Salt and pepper
- ¼ cup (60 mL) Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Olivieri® Alfredo Sauce
- Directions:
BRING a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to the package directions. (6-8 minutes) Drain and set aside.
HEAT butter in a large skillet over medium until lightly browned and frothy. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and toss to coat with brown butter. Sprinkle with half the Parmesan cheese.
HEAT Alfredo sauce in a small sauce pan, stirring occasionally.
SERVE pasta sprinkled with additional Parmesan cheese. *Hint I invest in a really good cheese. It’s worth it!
Candles placed, fireplace lit and dinner is served. Easy meal, Happy Hubby, Happy Valentine!
Heads up! Oliveri®i Pasta is currently running a Valentine’s Day contest, the grand prize is a spa retreat trip for two!
