This weekend, if I saw it, I ate it. Glazed ham, devilled eggs, pasta salad, chips and dip, turkey and stuffing, and the chocolate! Oh my, the chocolate!! It was not a healthy weekend in the snacking department. As a Mama of two very active girls I am a firm believer in snacks to get through the day, but not over indulgence like that! Smart snacking is the way to go. Fruit, almonds, cheese and raw veggies have always been our go to, until now! Just last week I was introduced to Maple Leaf® Natural Selections® PROTINIS™.
Pre-packaged and ready to go, this neatly portioned snack is made with delicious oven-roasted seasoned chicken and dried fruit, they are a source of complete protein and a perfect snack to get you through that afternoon slump!
I expected these little chicken portions to be, okay. What I was surprised to find, the oven roasted chicken PROTINIS™ snacks were not only tasty and satisfying, but well received by even my pickiest of eaters!
PROTINIS™ snacks are available in eight flavours including Oven Roasted Chicken, Sweet Thai Chili Chicken, Mild Salsa Chicken, Honey Garlic Chicken, Oven Roasted Chicken and Cranberry, Oven Roasted Chicken and Superfruit, Oven Roasted Chicken and Mango, and Oven Roasted Chicken and Apple! There is a flavour to appeal to every palate.
Perfect for that before dance class crush, that after cheer practice hunger, or to jazz up my super boring Caesar or Spinach Salad, I just might have tried them all! There are two portions in each of these boxes and they retail for approximately $4.99.
The favourites in this house are the Oven Roasted Chicken and Superfruit, or Cranberries , we add these to our fave salads.
Or the Oven Roasted Chicken and Apple all on their own! (the apple are like apple chips!!!)
My girls are very active and those school nights are busy! This also means we spend an awful lot of carpooling, and dinner times are rushed or at very peculiar times. It’s often difficult to squeeze in a healthy meal. I feel great handing one of my children a choice of one of the PROTINIS™ snacks as we run out the door with a side of cheese and some veggie sticks. It’s just enough to get them through the day until I can get them home again. It’s also a great snack for Mama as I wait for my little one’s to get home from their many activities, and at only 100 calories a portion, a very filling and much better choice then the muffins or cookies I’ve been reaching for lately!
