This week a pretty new appliance found it’s way into my home, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor. The first thing out of my Dear Daughter’s mouth, “Yay! Let’s juice an apple?”. My response, SweetGirl, we have a problem, I don’t have a clue how to use a juice extractor! To the instruction manual! To the internet! To the grocery store! The first thing I noticed, the Big Mouth™ Juice Extractor is tricked out:
- 800 Watts/1.1 Horse Power, quickly processes whole fruits and vegetables in seconds
- Extra large 3 inch intake chute, less prep required, as it easily processes whole fruits and vegetables
- Die cast locking straps & toggle control bezel, commercial features for durability and ease of use •20 oz. (0.6L) Juice recipient in clear smoked plastic •Durable stainless steel cutter/strainer •Easy to assemble/disassemble •Easy-to-remove pulp bin •Dishwasher safe parts
The second thing I noticed, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor is a snap to set up! Fabulous! While trying to decide where to start with my new toy, I came to a quick conclusion, there are thousands of healthy options to choose from! I was so excited at the prospect of a new way to bring healthy choices into my house and having the chance to create some fab new family recipes. We scoured the internet for some recipes that appealed to us, (and that I thought I could sneak some veggies into) and then ran out to get our supplies!
I covered the counter with our bounty, washed and prepped the fruit, and we got started. Our short term goal, learn how to use this machine and create a recipe to chill out to! Something fruity, yummy and refreshing to be enjoyed by us all summer long! Our long term goal, start creating some healthier habits for the entire family. It took just moments to set up our new whirly gig machine, and then we went for it in a very big way!
Our first recipe was one we found on the internet and adapted to our own palates.
Summer Refresher!
Ingredients:
*2 Apples
*1/3 of a pineapple (we bought a pineapple already cut up)
*2-3 Kiwi
*2 ripe nectarines
*10 large strawberries
Directions:
*Wash all the fruit, remove the stones from the nectarines, and the skin from the kiwi.
*Chop the pineapple, apples, and nectarine so they will easily fit into your juice extractor. Note: Big pieces can be accommodated with ease.
*Feed the fruit into your Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor.
*Pour over lots of ice to chill, and enjoy!
Within minutes we had taken some our favourite fruits and created a new family favourite! The house smelled wonderfully tropical and my daughter was ready to tackle a second recipe. The second time we created this recipe I added oranges and blueberries, and then snuck in some spinach! Oh yes I did! Such a brilliant way to start upping the veggie intake around here. Added benefit; because I’m buying organic fruits and veggies whenever possible I can feel great knowing my girls are drinking quite possibly the best juice of their entire lives.
I’m so happy to report the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor is so easy to use even my 12 year old daughter had the hang of it in only moments. It is also a snap to clean up, making it even easier for us to create some healthier habits!

I can’t handle the acidity in purchased orange juice, but enjoy it freshly squeezed – this would allow me to get more juice from my oranges – I’d juice oranges!!!
