After a week away in Florida, we began our approach into the Toronto Pearson International Airport. As we neared our destination, the Pilot came over the loud speaker to announce the fasten seat belt sign had been illuminated, all items were to be securely stowed and as we approached the runway we would be seeing Emergency Vehicles awaiting our arrival. WHAT??? Why? Deep breath.
Our hydraulic system was not working the way it should. We were able to land, but not steer or taxi? At least we think that’s what we heard. All I heard was keep your ass in your seat. Emergency crews were on stand by. I pretended to be calm.
This is NOT what you want to see as you glide onto the runway…
God bless that pilot who landed us safely and quickly. Applause all around as we landed, big deep shakey breaths. Shiver. We then sat and waited for our tow into the terminal. A very slow tow with our fire crew acting as escort.
Then we waited for our connecting flight.
Family travel, never a dull moment.

It’s the little things that you appreciate. Great job to the pilots for landing the plane and for all the emergency crews on standby as a precaution 🙂

What a scare that must have been! I am thankful that I have never been in that situation!
