In my house I hear one thing over, and over again. “Mom, there is NOTHING to eat!” Gah, these words have even been heard when I’ve just completed a $200.00 grocery shop. Frustrating? Oh yes, and I know I’m not alone in this phenomenon. The hunt for the perfect after school snack can be a tough one. This is just one of the reasons I am so happy when I hear that the gorgeous Red Prince Apples are back in season! Available for a limited time, and typically sold immediately following their harvest in late fall, the Red Prince Apple is ready to go!
This beautiful apple has an intoxicating smell, a deep red colour, is high in antioxidants, and is perfect for an after school snack or as an addition to those school lunches. When I’m filling my shopping cart I need to know the items I’m buying are good for my family and that my will girls will happily grab them to curb that snack attack. The Red Prince Apple are delicious, packed with fibre and protein, and ticks all the right boxes for a healthy choice.
This week, I managed to scoop up a big bag of Red Prince from my local Sobeys.
I stocked up as this local Ontario Apple as it will stay crisp for weeks if stored in your fridge. Like all Mom’s I want only the best for my children. Red Prince did the research to back it up and found we all take great care when picking our apples:
Once I got these sweet and juicy apples home, everyone in my house agreed; these apples were not unlike a Golden Delicious apple and yet tangy and crisp just the way everyone in my family likes them! Perfect cut up with a little bit peanut butter on top, great to add to your baking, delish mixed into a green salad with nuts, but quite honestly, simply the best ….all on their own.

I keep apples in a bowl on my counter, but my 14 years old still won’t bite… no pun intended.
Well, once or twice, she was desperate and cut up one to dip in peanut butter.
Did “we” say there was nothing to eat when we were kids?
Stephanie says
LOL You got me there. I do remember driving my Mom crazy complaining there was nothing to eat! Guess I owe her an apology 🙂
