Every once in a while I stumble across a place that I want to shout about from the rooftops (but maybe not too loudly so it doesn’t get too crowded?). The kind of place that is so special you can’t believe you haven’t heard about it before, can’t fathom why you haven’t been before, or why it hasn’t become one of your “go to” recommendations. The Signatures Restaurant, quietly tucked away inside of the InterContinetal Hotel in trendy Yorkville, is one of those places. It’s a hidden gem.
Recently, surrounded by good friends, I had an imaginative and unforgettable dining experience at Signatures. Staff were warm, detailed and knowledgeable of the menu. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, and the food, almost as ridiculously charming as Head Chef Andrew. As it’s difficult to put into words the beauty of our dining experience, I will let the pictures from the evening speak or themselves. Some of the items on our tasting menu for the evening included;
Signatures Radish Salad: This Chef took more time and care with his radishes than I do with my entire meal! I’ve never enjoyed radishes as much as I did that evening.
The Fresh Watermelon And Beet Salad. Did you know beets could be so pretty?
Signatures twist on the traditional Waldorf Salad.
Signatures foie gras: on top of rye toast and nestled beside cherries and a sprinkling of macadamia nuts.
Signatures Steak: This may look like an ordinary (plated to perfection) steak, but when women are carving off bites to share amongst their friends and all are making yummy noises? You know you have hit on something special. Delish.
Not shown but equally delectable were the Avocado Ball, stuffed with crab, the Marinated Octopus Salad, and the to die for Butter Tart with a side of Maple Ice Cream.
Worthy of note: If you are dining here and a vegetarian, vegan, or perhaps gluten free and don’t see something that meets your needs or tickles your fancy, the Head Chef himself will come table side to discuss menu ideas and options. At Signatures they truly want to ensure you have a lovely dining experience.
Signatures, in the InterContinental Hotel is establishing itself as a destination in of itself. In my opinion, Chef Andrew, is stalk worthy. He is talented, passionate and turns food into art. I’m already dreaming up my next excuse to visit. Many thanks for having us.
Awesome presentation. Food looks pretty good too
How fun and super visual! I’m laughing to myself at the thought of my husband being handed a plate that looked like this. Subtly whispering to me: “Which parts are the garnish and which part do I eat?”.
The food looks delicious. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing presentation of beautiful food. It is actually the most elaborate I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
sounds like a nice spot
Sounds divine, will most definitely be eating here.
Honestly I like the presentation but I avoid 5 star places because I am still old school and prefer steak, burgers, ribs and salads the old fashioned way, I leave these places hungry every time!
I think I am hungry now and could use a date night!
What an amazing presentation! Thank you for sharing!
This does sound like a hidden gen and the food looks amazing thanks for sharing this one.
looks great, were you still hungry when you finished
It is always nice to find a place that makes the food look so wonderful that each thing looks better than the next.
