My two girls have their space, carved out in bright and bold rooms. They have also commandeered the basement, the perfect place for two teens who love to fill the house with friends. The Hubby has “his” TV room, and is longing for a Theatre room. Even the dog has taken over his own space in the house. My once classy dining room has become a haven for the giant blue great dane pup. So what in this house is truly mine? Not the kitchen. I don’t want that place, too much “work” happens in there. Not the bedroom. Sadly, it’s a wee bit cluttered and decidedly not my own. (for the record, I’m quite okay with that). The space that I need to make mine, is a home office. Yes, it might sound silly but what I’m truly craving is a soothing, inspiring home office that I can truly make into my own; an ultimate Mom Cave. This is look and feel I’m dreaming of!

The big windows, the soothing greys and contemporary feel. Clean lines, ample storage, a place to hang some artwork. This is the end game for my ultimate Mom Cave. A place to escape to, be organized and happy while I work! Grown up dreams, and one day it will happen! For now though, a smaller project, an easier one to tackle in the short months of summer and a place I already gravitate to when I need that elusive “ME” time. I’ve decided to head to my favourite place of all and make it my very own. My back deck.
Yes, this summer I’m taking over a small corner of my deck and creating a place that’s just for me. A place where I can sit with a hot coffee in the morning, or a cold precsco in the evening to celebrate the day. A quiet corner just for me that would allow me to write in peace, finish that book I’ve been reading, dare I say, hide from the chaos of every day life!
Right now this little space of mine is a work in progress; it consists of a well loved bistro set with four tall chairs, my favourite vase and flowers that change to suit my mood, and a few plants, struggling to survive. There are blue throw cushions on order and citronella candles I can bring out to scare away the bugs. My favourite part? The whimsical rug where no dog prints are allowed! Do you think this is possible? I do. The most important thing of all is that I take ownership of this place with my heart and soul. I want to make it mine.
The plan; sneak away for just a few minutes every single day and enjoy this space that’s all my own. As a busy Mama in the suburbs it can be hard to get “Me time”. Perhaps having my own little corner of the world waiting for me will inspire me to remember to dream my own dreams too.
Do you have a Mom Cave? Are you yearning for a place to escape to in your home, a little space to call your very own? Twistos has teamed up with design expert Jeanette Ewen to host the #TwistosMomCave contest to help this dream come true! Jeanette thinks summer is the very best time to redecorate and we want to give you a chance to WIN a $2, 000 gift card to a contemporary furniture and home decor store.
Twistos believes that every mom deserves a Mom Cave – a quiet place where she can unwind and relax after a busy day – complete with Twistos snack crackers of course! A #TwistosMomCave is a space that’s a little different than the rest – just like Twistos baked snack crackers – designed to delight, elevate and inspire your “me” time. After a long busy day, Twistos baked snack crackers are the perfect snack for that long awaited “me” time – I love the Sour Cream & Chive flavour! I adore that they are baked and are the perfect crunchy snack for those 4 pm munchies. My only problem, that I have to share with the kids 🙂

I am so sad that I cannot even enter this contest that would make my LIFE. I know I’m probably the last person alive with an old flip phone, but that’s what I’ve got till it dies. Can’t afford a smartphone yet, so no Instagram, and a sad me.

Your little area looks great and I no longer need a mom cave as the girls are moved out now, so I have the whole house to myself!!

Your mom cave looks beautiful! 🙂 I can really see sitting by the window with a cup of tea and a good book in your first photo 🙂

Looks beautiful, and it sounds like you should have had a “you” place a long time ago. I like being outside, but if I have something that I need to concentrate on, I prefer a really boring indoor place with no distractions.
