Sometimes it feels like a mad dash. Do you know the feeling? The crush, the pressure, the craze to get everything you need to get done, so you can just “get to the cottage”. Is it worth it to scrimp and to save? The panic and mad packing, the fight you have to make through wild traffic to escape the suburbs so you can call someone else’s cottage …home for a week? Is it worth it to roll the dice and hope for the best, to use your precious vacation time and and see what happens?
Sigh, yes, a thousand times yes.
For me, a week away in cottage country is not just about a vacation. It’s not just about unplugging, unwinding, and relaxing. It’s so much more than long summer days. It’s the chance to share memories of my childhood with my girls, to give them a solid week with no stress, no pressure, just…joy.
Splashing in crystal clear water.
Mastering the canoe, and adventuring out on their own.
Running in the rain, because you can’t control the weather, so why not?
It’s about making warm fuzzy memories for my children, and for me too.
It’s about taking a moment to let the worries of the world wash away, and really be thankful for everything we have.
Time with my family, my girls, my SassySis and her little fam? Truly priceless.
Too soon to start the countdown to next year?

I used to do the cottage vacation as a kid, & it was the most wonderful thing. They are memories I have cherished forever. You have given your family something special they will always remember.

We do something so similar! Pack up our family and drive FOREVER to get to our little getaway spot all in the name of unplugging and relaxing. It can seem like a hassle, but it’s so worth it.
Stephanie says
It really is worth the hassle isn’t? And why does the drive home seem so much longer than the drive there? LOL

Looks like the trouble was worth the reward!
