We may be halfway through summer but BBQ season is just starting to ramp up in our house. The pool is open, the neighbours are always dropping by and we’re always looking for every possible excuse to fire up the grill!
But what we do need to get better at? Spending less time shopping and more time enjoying the season. In other words, one-stop shopping convenience.- pick up everything we need for our many BBQs and parties all in one place.
Everyone knows Walmart is a great place to stop to pick up those everyday supplies, but did you know Walmart has another side? Fresh food! Walmart offers an impressive selection of fresh produce, bakery goods and meats. Their meat section (which includes 100% Canadian-raised Angus beef, Maple Leaf chicken and Canadian salmon) has been completely revamped. They also offer a wider variety of Canada No.1 grade fruits and vegetables and 100% local produce when it’s in season and a large selection of organics too. Walmart also feels so strongly about their fresh food that they even have a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Recently, I had the opportunity to spend some time with the charming celebrity Chef Corbin of the Food Network and put my BBQ skills to the test.
Along with Walmart Canada, we hosted a Tailgate party for the Stratford Memorials Softball Tournament. The kids played ball, everyone enjoyed a bit of a feast, I had the chance to learn a few tricks while we tasted some of Walmarts fresh foods!
Chef Corbin and I braved the 32-degree heat and grilled up a storm, cracked a joke or two, and created a meal (including steak, grilled broccoli and cauliflower) that is going to make me a BBQ hero in my house.
I had a terrific time introducing more people to the fresh food available at Walmart and hanging out with Chef Corbin. It was a ridiculous amount of fun to shoot this Walmart video, which aims to help families make kid-approved meals easier and healthier.
I learned how to cook up the ultimate steak. Just watch below!

This recipe is the easiest and I think I could make this one because my main criteria is easy and I try to do recipes with 7 items or less.

It looked like you had a lot of fun grilling with Chef Corbin and that steak looked great. I’ve never grilled vegetables naked like that on a grill before, I’ll have to try that when spring arrives. Got some snow today but not too much.

Chef Corbin and you make this look so easy! I’ve never tried veggies on the BBQ so definitely will next time. I also didn’t realize that Walmarts’ meat section had been completely revamped. I LOVE Salmon so will pop on by and pick up some, as I didn’t realize they carried it! Thanks for such an informative posting!

Awesome…that looks so easy to do! Hubby usually does all of the BBQ grilling in our home, however, I think that this is something I can master as well! After all , if your girls can do it….so can I. Loved the video—you are a natural Stephanie!
