Cottage country is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the world…until it rains for 10 or 11 hours straight and your stuck inside said cottage with a gaggle of screaming kids. When that happens, you need to get the heck out and DO something. Anything! So what is the thing to do when near the booming town of Minden Ontario? Bowling of course.

When the rain storm hit on our last summer vacay we set a course for “The Fast Lanes”. Six crashing lanes of five pin bowling fun. Located at 12281 Hwy 85 in Minden Ontario, this teeny little hole in the wall is a wee bit hard to find. Insider Tip: It’s behind the gas station.
The bowling experience at this alley is like many others; providing good old fashioned fun at a fairly reasonable price.
What you need to know:
No electronic score cards here. It’s old school paper and pencil so be ready to dust off those math skills!
When it rains, it gets busy! Do yourself a favour and call ahead to hold a lane. (705 286 3900)
They keep the music busting and the lights flashing. It’s pure nirvana for the smaller set and a bit of a step back in time for the rest of us.
There is also a small snack bar if you’re hungry!
Pack your smile and the camera for this photo opp too…
Ceilings are a wee bit..low? I’m 5 ft 9″ and ruling the lane in my neon green bowling shoes! (not really. I think I was the big loser for our game, and that includes the 3 year olds score)
So if you are looking for a way to while away an afternoon while in cottage country, take a peek at The Fast Lanes. Your kids will thank you.

Your lucky my mothers cottage you have to use a boat to get to it. So you’re stuck inside if the weather is bad. With board games or a deck of cards which is not always fun with the kids.

Oh gosh, I haven’t been bowling in 10+ years, I want to take my kids one day

Our family only goes bowling once or twice a year.. we should do it more often because it really is a great time! I guess it’s just something we don’t think about doing often. I am terrible at keeping score on the old paper sheets & am thankful for the electronic score boards now!

It’s so rare to see a bowling alley these days. I remember when I was younger, the whole family went bowling a lot. It was super fun!

My dad is always telling us how he was a champion bowler here in town when he was a teenager. We love to go bowling, we aren’t good, but we love it!

I bowl once a week on a Fall/Spring league. Of course I have never done the 5 pin bowling that you have. One of my bowling partners for many years came over from Canada and learned to bowl our way!
