The Flipp app? Have you heard of it? Thanks to Flipp you can say goodbye to your paper circulars and have everything you need in the palm of your hand, right in your smart phone! The Flipp delivers digital circulars from over 800 local retailers so you can find the best deals in your own community every week. The entire app and coupon world is new to me, but not to my newest contributor here at How To Survive Life In The Suburbs, SassySis. Allow me to introduce you to my Guest Writer, Heather, the original SassySister! An expert in all things baby, toddler, shopping and savings. Here is her expert opinion on the newest addition to the Flipp app as she tackles the #FLIPPCOUPONCHALLENGE.
My introduction (OK obsession) into the world of price matching all began with the dreaded diaper. There is nothing I dislike more than spending money on something to catch pee! Once I realized how easy it was to save money on diapers I realized that I could do this with all kinds of items and save a ton of cash (more mani’s and pedi’s for me ☺) I mean a penny saved is a penny earned right? Every Thursday night I would sit down with my grocery list for the week and start combing through the flyers. An hour or more later I would be ready to hit the grocery store. Once at the checkout with flyers in hand I would just ignore the folks behind me as I very calmly (OK maybe a little flustered) matched my flyers to the items in my cart. I’d walk away knowing that although the dirty look from the guy behind me may haunt my dreams tonight, I had saved some of my hard earned money.
I was at a dinner party one night bragging about what a great price matcher I am when my friend’s husband – yes husband – proclaimed he could one up me as he shops hassle free with his Flipp App. What is this Flipp App? A handy little App right on your phone that searches all the flyers in your neighbourhood so you can easily find the best price. No sorting through flyers and trying to find the best price, no sifting through all the ads you’ve circled to show at the cash register and no more dirty looks! Yes this App is a price matchers dream. I have a personal challenge to never pay full price for anything again and with this App I am truly winning.
I’m excited to tell you that this App just got better. Thanks to Flip App I am not only an expert price matcher but I am a newbie couponer too!! They have added a feature that matches manufacture coupons to the price match! I can’t believe how easy it is. To prove this I embarked on the #FLIPPCOUPONCHALLENGE My goal; to use the Flipp app with 7 to 10 coupons found in the app and at least 5 coupon matchups and see how much I could save. I also wanted to do all of my shopping for the entire week.
The results? This weeks grocery bill should have been $179.62 but thanks to Flipp App and the new coupon feature I only paid $136.92! That’s $42.70 still in my pocket and an overall savings of $26%. Thanks Flipp App!!
**My only complaint is that I did have difficulty finding the update on my Blackberry App, it was easier to find on the iphone and androids which for me means stealing the hubby’s phone to do the groceries. I was told later to try accessing it via Goggle Play.
Conclusion: Everyone should download and start using the Flipp right now!

For grocery items, I regulalry check non-dairy milk, apples and eggs. I used the app to get Almond Fresh price matched in No Frills using the Metro clipping in flip, plus a grocery coupon from the matchup on Sunday. For household, bath and tissue boxes are what I lookout for as they have many deals that I can price match with coupons. I don’t have a set amount target to save on, as the savings offset the cost of getting higher quality items that I use such as organic coconut oil or other items that is not advertised or sold except in health stores. I did use the app to look for organic salmon which was advertised for Sobeys but, the store I went to didn’t carry it. I ended up buying from Metro but, that could not be price matched as they don’t do this.
