We all know them.
That family who is all things, to all people. The helpers. The doers. The huggers. The warm and fuzzy people. The one’s who would give the shirts off their very own backs. They are the first to offer to carpool. The one’s who host the best sleepovers and pool parties. The keepers of the rowdy kids on Friday nights. The one you can call when you need a carpool or a favour. They are also the one’s who ask for nothing. They quietly go about their business, helping out the world, paying it forward, volunteering, donating, just being the kind of people we should all strive to be. They are some of the good one’s.
We are lucky to know some of these kind of people, and one of these families, they just also happen to be the owners of two cuddly warm and fluffy adopted dogs. They love their pet family with their entire hearts. They do for their dogs like they do for their people. Not rain, nor snow, nor wind, nor mud, shall stop this family from making sure those two “pups” get their outside romps through the woods every single day. They are walked, run, played with and loved in a manner that makes the rest of us dog owners feel just a “little bit” guilty.
The problem; Do you know what happens when two fluffy dogs go for a walk in the drippy wet woods? I’m afraid the answer is not a funny little riddle! It’s paw prints, flying fur and wet dog smell…..times two. It means footprints, muddy floors, stained carpets, and frustration. (In my house it even means the occasional yelling. Who didn’t clean up after the dog?)
So finally, an opportunity to pay it forward, do a little something for this family who has always done for others and never asked for anything in return. My SweetGirl and I packed up some Swiffer Surprise boxes, stuffed full of Swiffer goodies and treats for the pups, and headed out to make our neighbours life just a little bit easier.
Why was I so nervous? We arrived on their doorstop and were greeted by smiling faces and wagging tails. It was exactly as it should have been. After warm hello’s, our gifts were presented.
Treats for the people and treats for the pets!
Can you believe this family with two big pets, one 11 years old and one a pup, didn’t own a Swiffer Sweeper! Now they have some great new tools for when #ShedHappens, and with two amazing barking friends in the house, shedding happens. A lot.
Life with dogs means life with dog hair, but life with a Swiffer means a quick clean-up and you can get on with your day. Swiffer is a game changer. Keeping a Swiffer in the front entrance where the pups come in and out is the easiest way to do those fast clean-ups. This product is so easy even the smallest people of the house can help clean up after the pets of the family. Thanks to Swiffer you no longer have to pull out the mop, the pail and all the cleaning supplies, all you need is one little Swiffer Sweeper Dry & Wet and your clean up job is done in under two minutes! Less time cleaning means more time for playing!
Hmm, maybe it’s time to add another pup to our family? If you know someone adopting a pet this Christmas, consider putting a Swiffer under their Christmas tree. The Mama in the house will thank you!
It was a joy to be able to present this family with a great gift of products and the bigger gift of time! As this Mama always says; Swiffer is so fast you can save hours on housecleaning, and get on with the more joyful things of life!
Interesting to note:
I grew up in a house with a dog, I knew what we were getting into. But did you know the task of staying on top of those pet messes can be what keeps some families from taking the step to adopting a pet? For many Canadians, cleaning up their pet’s messes is a major source of stress. In fact, 47% of pet-owning Canadians and 51% of pet-owning Canadian parents think that cleaning up their pet’s messes is a major source of stress for them. It doesn’t have to be so overwhelming! With Swiffer, pet parents can get a thorough clean in minutes, so pet hair mess never becomes an obstacle to bringing home your child’s first pet.
According to the second annual Swiffer Cleaning Index, while 89% of Canadian parents feel that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences a child can have, 75% of those who do not already have a pet agree that concerns over pet-related messes could prevent them from getting one.
There are millions of animals in need of homes, so we have joined with Bark & Co. to help make the barriers to adoption – like the cleanup – less of a challenge. Together, we are providing 10,000 Welcome Home Kits to participating shelters across the country to show how easy it is to get a thorough clean in minutes so more families and children can experience the love of a first pet. Swiffer will also make a $50,000 total donation to distribute to select shelters nationwide this holiday season to support critical projects that will help more dogs find their fur-ever homes.
When you bring a new pet into your family, you also bring a tremendous opportunity to teach your kids compassion and responsibility. 89% of Canadian parents think that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences a child can have and 51% of parents think caring for a pet is better for teaching their child responsibility than doing chores around the house.
Parents know pets are good for their kids – but they’re still afraid of the mess. 71% of pet-less Canadians and 75% of pet-less Canadian parents say that concerns over the mess a pet causes could prevent them from getting one.
If you are considering adding a pet to your family this year you can get tips for welcoming home your new pet at visit Swiffer.com. New pet owners are invited to share their own “welcome home” experiences with @Swiffer and @BarkBox using #ShedHappens.

I think it’s great that Swiffer can help clean up the mess but for me it’s cat hair because my Shih Tzu doesn’t shed
Debbie White Beattie says
I’m lucky in one way because I have a Shih Tzu so he doesn’t shed. But in another way not lucky because I have a cat so one cancels out the other.

Awww… what a lovely story of paying it forward. I’m sure that gesture was appreciated! I have always had a dog. Our current little guy is a rescue too. He enjoys getting into the garbage and is like Houdini always figuring out how to get through the dog-proofing attempts! LOL But we love him… mess and all!!!!
