Before you were an grown-up with kids, you were sure your life was oh so busy. Work, friends, umm what else did you do with your time? Oh right; there were lazy Sunday mornings with long sleep ins and late brunches. Drives to the beach. Shopping days. Movie marathons and romantic dinners. A tidy house and time to read every best seller on the shelves.
Then came the kids. Does this mean you are now a real grown-up? Maybe! Here are 7 signs that you are truly once and for all, no turning back, a grown-up…with kids.
1. You get excited at the idea of shopping for a new area rug. In the market for new countertops or appliances, this is almost as good as a trip to DisneyWorld!
2. When you were a kid, you fought “the nap”. Now you would pay someone to just let you sleep.
3. Forget candy, coffee is your crack.
4. Back in the day your Husband could make your knees weak with his grand gestures that included evenings out on the town, champagne, and five course dinners! Now nothing is hotter than seeing that same man vacuum the stairs, play with the kids and offer to rub your feet. Sigh.
5. Managed to get both your kids into swimming lessons at the same time and you find yourself doing a happy dance in the kitchen? You might be an adult.
6. You have a “real” toolbox. You know, a box of tools that can actually fix the shelves in the kiddos bedroom, not just a drawer with a screwdriver, a hammer and some duct tape thrown into it.
7. The idea of heading out clubbing on a Saturday night is tantamount to torture. You would much rather curl up with your Honey on the comfy couch and a bowl of popcorn. (Once your grown-up with kids, one night clubbing equals two days of recovery. So not worth it anymore.)
Any of this sound familiar? Then I have news for you, you might be a grown up.

I wish that I could take a vacation from me current life and go back to when I single again. All I had to worry about was myself. My life is so hectic, so stressful right now. Sometimes I don’t know how I keep it all together.

Hmm, just bought myself a new drill and have a tool box so although I don’t feel like it I must be a grown-up! The first time I suspected that I might be a grown-up was when I met one of my children’s teachers and realised she was way younger than I was, that came as a shock. And by the way I’m 64 now!

Sounds really familiar. Although, him doing the house work and cooking has been and always been one of the things that make me love him and appreciate him even more.
