It seems like lately all I do is drive. Cajole kids through homework. Complain about the weather. Make dinner, clean up dinner, whine because I don’t know what to make for dinner. And stress about the little things. As I’m driving around and complaining, a little realization. I’m feeling like an old chick. Nothing could have driven this home more then when I realized I am missing some stuff from “the olden days”
I miss:
Full serve gas stations. Pumping your own gas is for chumps.
The days when grocery stores used to bag your groceries and even help you to the car.
When all the stores were closed on Sundays. Sure an extra day of shopping is fun, but remember when all those stores were closed and we were forced to do “stuff” with our friends and family? Good times.
Date night; When we went to the movie rental place, browsed the aisles and picked a DVD for the weekend.

Quality cartoons. I miss Bugs Bunny and old school Donald Duck. They just can’t be beat.
I miss when weekends were unscheduled, unhurried and stress free. But now as an adult I wonder, was that just my parents doing all the adulting and letting us kids live life to the fullest and worry free? All this whining isn’t to say I don’t appreciate ordering groceries on-line, Netflix and the new Disney sensations that kept my kids busy every Sunday morning. I think it just means I’m reminiscing like an old chick.

I’m right there with you because I miss the days before computers and cell phones. When people actually talked instead of staring at their phones and when did it become so important to never be without your phone. When someone could enjoy being alone and enjoy your own company but no everyone is constantly texting or on some kind of social media. I miss the old days !!

I also miss when weekends were unscheduled, unhurried and stress free! Such a long, long time ago. I remember going to movie rental store and spending hours looking at all the cool movies we could rent. I also miss Bugs Bunny on Saturday mornings.

This definitely made me laugh. It makes me laugh when the kids are doing research for school and they’re googling… where we had encyclopedia’s and the library.

Ahh yes! Full service gas stations! What happened to them? I sure wouldn’t mind one of those when the temperature is below 0!
