Just a couple of weeks ago I was frantically trying to find “the” perfect dress to wear to an event. I was looking for something that flattered, was long enough for my amazon legs, and wouldn’t break the bank. Late in the night I finally found it! The perfect dress, at the perfect price point. I loaded that baby up into my cart, hit “BUY NOW” and then went bed to sleep soundly. Dreaming the kind of dreams only the happy shopper can dream. (I dreamt of shoes of course. What kind of shoes would I get to tho with that fabulous dress?) When the coveted box arrived I tore into it, opened the tissue and wah wah wah. Oh my. It looked…cheap? It fit….oddly? It was the wrong size! And yes, it was too short. Sigh. Yup, not at all what I’d been hoping for. This was a shipping fail. Disappointment washed over me. Now what? Not only was this dress not a good fit for the event in one weeks time, but it was a dress I would never use. Has this ever happened to you? Does the fear of receiving a product you just weren’t quite expecting keep you from shopping on line? It has stopped me, but not any more! Today, Paypal has launched their new “Return Shipping on Us” service!
Shopping just became worry free.
As it turns out, 86% percent of Canadian have said that free return shipping services would make them more likely to shop from a website. Fantastic news, today, Paypal is making that a reality! They have announced the launch of a new Return Shipping on Us service in Canada. By directly addressing the concern of online shoppers, this service aims to boost consumer confidence and help drive online retail by refunding return shipping costs on eligible online purchases within Canada and around the world. Imagine shopping and knowing if you receive a product that doesn’t meet your requirements, your needs, or satisfaction, you an return it. It takes the worry out of shopping!
A study from Ipsos reports that 40 per cent of Canadians are worried about ordering the wrong item online and not being able to return it. A further 27 per cent said they have been forced to pay for shipping back items in the past year, with the majority (65%) saying it cost them more than $10 each time. No longer is this a problem!

Return Shipping on Us also benefits Canadians who shop from international websites that they might not be familiar with. PayPal’s Cross-Border Consumer Research 2015 revealed that 10.7 million Canadians engage in cross-border online shopping, with 38 per cent saying that if free return shipping was offered, they would be more likely to buy online from another country. A quarter of Canadians who shop from international websites, and nearly 40 per cent who do not shop cross-border, mentioned that return shipping costs are holding them back. Including me! I’ve hesitated with US sites, unfamiliar with return polices that can be overwhelming. This new service from PayPal is going to help.
Join for free! PayPal now offers Return Shipping on Us in nearly 40 countries. In Canada, the service allows up to 10 refunds on eligible online purchases per calendar year. Canadian shoppers who are unsatisfied with their purchase and have opted-in to the service will now be able to request a refund on return shipping costs within two weeks of mailing the return.

Good to know! I actually did the same last year with a dress I was buying for a wedding. It was too short. I tried selling it on Kijiji…no luck. I ended up bringing it to a consignment shop, that ended up going out of business, and I didn’t get anything for it. All because I didn’t want to pay to return it.

I think this is marvellous and I think it will encourage people 1) to join PayPal and 2) to shop on line 3) be adventurous and buy from abroad. The Return Shipping on Us service makes shopping so much easy and more enjoyable

One thing that deters me from online shopping IS the shipping – like you said, what if your online gem turns out to be a real life dud? Kudos to PayPal (my go-to way to shop online anyhow!) for making it easy to shop with ease 🙂

That is so awesome!!! Fear of things not fitting just right, and not being able to try things on is the biggest barrier between me and online shopping – the Return Shipping on Us service sounds like a perfect solution!!!

This is so fabulous! Shopping online alone especially internationally can be expensive and then with shipping and handling charges on top just formidable. And, then you find out that you need yo return an item? Ouch! I am definitely going to register.

That’s awesome, I have lost so much money from shopping online, because I am plus size it’s even worse for me, so I have lots of small garmets or even way to big, I stopped shopping online because I like to try on now before I buy
