The shocking numbers! How many times a week do you go shopping? Yes, I used the plural in that sentence. I’ve already confessed I’m not the most organized Mama when it comes to grocery shopping. Until very recently, it’s been more of a scatter, gather and hope for the best approach. All of this changed with a little help from Loblaws Click & Collect, what I’m now calling my best grocery hack ever.
Here’s the deal:
Grocery shopping with the scattered approach had me at the store at least two times a week. Maybe three. Drive, park, wander, shop, forget something, repeat. Frustrating, expensive and a big fat waste of time. Now? I’m kind of owning this grocery shopping thing.
Every Sunday night while the Hubby is watching some boring sport on TV (why is Golf always on television)? Or even Monday morning just after the kiddos scoot out the door. I pull out my laptop, log into my Click & Collect account and do my shopping for the week in a flash!
When I can see in black and white, what’s in my cart I can tell if I’ve planned effectively for the week, I know if I’ve forgotten to add butter to the cart, and if I’m not sure if we need mayo? I can just jump off the couch, run to the fridge and check. Brilliant. With my shopping complete, I select my pick up time for Monday afternoon (coincided with after school pick-up) and I’m done. The amount of time I’m saving is almost embarrassing. I say almost, because I’m using those Mommy Minutes wisely, and I can’t be embarrassed of that.
Last week, instead of running to the grocery store on Wednesday to grab said mayo that I would have forgotten had I not used Click and Collect, I went to the mall with my oldest daughter. Okay, still kind of shopping, but not even close to the same kind of thing. Friday night when I’m usually struggling for dinner ideas and end up back at the store again, was instead spent in the back yard, soaking up some sun, and having a ball with my rambunctious dog and youngest daughter. These are the moments you can’t get back. These are the moments I cherish and love. These are the moments that make me feel like I’m a better Mom. Cliche but true, but I’m now making the most of every moment and doing a better job of it thanks to a new way of grocery shopping. I’m now the master of saving Mommy Minutes!
