Just over four hours from home, and yet, it feels like we are a million miles away.
For the first time in months? Yes, months. This family has unplugged, kicked backed and re-connected. We’re at a cottage “up north” and soaking up every moment of joy. Our days have consisted of long indulgent breakfasts on the massive wrap around deck. Afternoon dips in the big clear lake. Hours spend exploring the shoreline, and trying our hand at canoeing and kayaking. Late dinners feasted upon as the sun goes down, making plans for our next full day.
There have been campfires and giant puzzles. Rambuncious card games and the occasional curse or two.
Trips into town for the best ice-cream on earth.
Lots of junk food and even more laughter.
No work, no dead lines, no school, no stress.
It’s the way a family vacation is supposed to be.
It’s been the fastest week of summer I can ever remember.
There’s only one little problem. Not a single one of us is ready to go home…
I am so longing for summer. It’s so long i need a get-a-way so bad!
I remember doing all of the same things that you all did but with one exception, my grandma used to make us pick blueberries which we all hated doing, until the blueberry pie came out !
Dreaming of summer and warmth is this cold freezing north.
This post makes me want to go kayaking
