This, this could get embarrassing. What’s on my bedside table?
An iPhone charger.
Hand cream.
My jewelry box.
More prescriptions than I care to admit to. (Related: migraines suck)
A large collection of hair elastics.
A water glass, half empty.
And finally, back in the rotation, a stack of books.
It’s time to take back my “me time”. Remember how to turn off the outside world and unwind at the end of the day. I’m restocking on great reads and getting back to one thing I really do love to do. Reading. The problem; I’ve gotten into the horrible habit of falling into bed at 11:30 at night, turning on the late late news for a few minutes, checking those e-mails and tweets one more time, and then desperately trying to fall asleep. Then I wonder why I can’t turn off my brain? Duh. Moron.
How can I expect to change my story if I don’t change my habit. I’m moving that charger away from the bedside table and adding more novels. Juicy, silly, beachy style bedtime stories to help me unplug in a different kind of way. Now my bedside table includes the long over due reads of:
*The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins
*The Children by Ann Leary
*Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
*Everyone Brave Is Forgiven by Chris Cleave
*The Regulars by Georgia Clark
*The Girls by Emma Cline
New habits, new routines are always a good idea. Right?
So fess up, what’s on your bedside table, and what are you reading next?

I’ve been trying to finish Wool, by Hugh Howey for quite some time now. Lately I’ve been putting on podcasts to fall asleep to, but the problem is that sometimes they’re super interesting and they keep me awake. Or they’ll mention something I’ll want to look up on the internets. I should really get back to books.

I realized I never answered the question. On my bed table: A box of tissues, a basketball player made out of nuts and bolts, hand cream, foot lotion and my foot shaver thingee (What are those things called?)

On my bedside, box of Kleenex a water bottle, dirty kleenex lol , dirty pair of socks because my cat keeps pullling them out of my basket, and my back scratcher.

I have my charger far away from my bed so I’m not tempted to check anything.
I’m currently reading The Book that changed our World and the complete Father Brown series. The latter is easy to pick up and put down as the chapters contain a whole story.

My list is almost identical to yours! I also have an extra pair of glasses, pen and paper, alarm clock and pain spray. Too much but hard to not have close by.

I am also trying to get back into reading. It’s weird because it used to be my favourite thing to do…I can’t read before bed though or I just end up staying up reading until the wee hours!

Hmmm – lamp, book (or two) phone and charger, water bottle. That’s about it. What’s more fun for me is that my bedside table is a 100 year old chair

On my bedside table I’ve got an alarm clock, a lamp, a pad of paper and pen, and a stack of Today’s Parents magazine that I flip through before bed (that’s what I’m reading next!)

I used to read a lot more and think I should start again. I want to read The Game of Thrones series before binge watching the show.
