Day dreaming in full force.
Have you ever thought about packing it all in and trying a completely different life? Somewhere foreign, exotic, perhaps the polar opposite of the life you live now? As I wandered the cobblestone streets of the tiny Island of Burano off the coast of Italy, the little day dreamer in me was set loose in a very big way.
What kind of lives were being lived behind the doors of those brightly coloured houses.
Was life on this island of a much slower pace? Perhaps in this new place your children would learn a new language, grow an insatiable love for art and culture, and learn how to drive a boat before a car. You and your Husband would embrace the lifestyle that includes wine with dinner every night, learning how to drink that very strong coffee and taking siestas as needed. There would be more time cooking and talking, less time running around and texting.
Friends from your “old home” would visit often, you know, because your new life was located in a place so stuffed with beauty they couldn’t stay away. Well that and they missed you so much of course.
It’s a sweet daydream. But probably enough for me. I’m quite happy with my little life in the suburbs, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t give that little orange house by the sea a trial run for a month or so.
So thankful for this day trip to the remarkable island of Burano and the daydreaming that came with it.
If you were to pick up and leave the real world behind, where would you go?

I’d move to Iceland. I like the small population, friendly people and artsy and outdoorsy culture. I’d have to start really liking fish, though.

Burano sounds like a lovely and quaint island. Truly not too familiar with Italy and this island but I can see why you loved it there so. Love the idea of escaping life, if only for a few weeks and experiencing Burano and Italy!
