Located on the widest stretch of Negril’s famous 7-mile Beach, Beaches Negril encourages you to start your vacation from the moment you land. It has a chill, laid back atmosphere, and yet hosts a lively night life for those who seek it. There are kids programs galore, and of course the food and service the Beaches name is known for. So what do you need to know before you leave for your vacation to Beaches Negril? Here are a few tips to make the most of your vacation on this little piece of paradise in Jamaica.
- Packing for Beaches Negril is easy. It’s resort casual all the way. Pack your best swim suits, some cover ups and lots of beach wear. Throw in those shades and shorts, a few sun or maxi dresses for her, and at least one pair of pants for him and you’re good to go.
- Arrival: When you land ease your way through customs and make a quick left. There you will find the Sandals/Beaches representative waiting to welcome you and a beautiful lounge. This is your chance to check your bags, freshen up, grab a drink and snack, and use the restrooms before your hour and a half transfer to the hotel.
- Upon arrival, you are ushered into the Concierge Lounge. Here you are welcomed with cool cloths, a special welcome drink and asked to leave your credit card info for any incidentals during your stay. Almost everything is included at Beaches Negril, but you may want to add some spa services or do some shopping in the gift shop.
- Dining: When you check in, be sure to make your requests for any special dining experiences you may be interested in. Two dinners to consider are The Venetian for Italian food and Kimonos, providing Teppanyaki cooking and entertainment! Insider tip: Be sure to make it to Stew Fish Restaurant for at least one breakfast on the beach overlooking the ocean, not only is the view unbeatable, but it has some of the best French Toast …ever!
- Accommodations: Rooms are spread out over 9 different buildings spread throughout the resort, (The 100’s to the 900’s) and vary by size/category. Many of these rooms are connecting. Remember that with connecting rooms, or for that matter, with any hotel room or stay, earplugs are your friend.
- Most of the hotel rooms have microwaves. Perfect for those traveling with little one’s who may need bottles warmed up or if you are like me and pack popcorn. (did I just admit that?)
- Food Tips: There is no shortage of food at Beaches Resorts, but I have teens and we did find ourselves wishing we had packed a few more snacks to help combat those late night munchies. Some of our favourite places to grab a quick bite included DINO’s Pizzeria for a pizza to go, and Mariachi where we could often create a massive plate of nachos!
- Don’t Forget: As you are in a tropical paradise be sure to pack lots of sunscreen and a small bottle of bug spray. If you do happen to forget either of these or just about anything else there is a great little gift shop/store right on site that sells everything from T-shirts to sunscreen, to potato chips.
- Activities: Every day a “newsletter” is slipped under your door outlining all that is happening on the property the next day. Give it a read so you will be able to plan your perfect day.
- Remember that your vacation is what you make it. Get out there and take advantage of the free water sports – paddle boards, kayaks, windsurfing, sailing, and glass bottom boats! Enjoy the shows, try lazy river at the water park, indulge in the frozen drinks, stop in the Paris Cafe for a crepe and a coffee, or play some pool games. Embrace the laid back vibe.
Most of all, remember that vacations are just like life, you get out of them what you put into them. Happy Travels!

I love that they have a newsletter. At one resort we came back from an excursion to find out we had missed the resorts best show that they only put on once a month.
