The alarm clock seems to go off earlier and earlier every single day. Is that possible? We RUN to get ready for school. Dash to get home from school. Then it’s time to cram in a snack, homework, dinner then we are off again to a plethora of after school activities. Volleyball, work, gymnastics, dance. No matter the day of the week, regardless of the activity, one thing I know for sure, we require a wardrobe change and an even faster up-do. How do I manage it all? With a lot of organization, a little bit of luck and a couple of tricks to get me through. I rely on the Goody hair products and a few hair hacks to seamlessly get me through my day.
My girls adore their Goody Ouchless Girls hairbrush to comb through the drama of their day, smooth out their tangles and help them get ready for all the fun that lays ahead. The new Goody® Ouchless® Girls brushes are strong enough to get through matted and messy hair, but gentle enough to work through tangles without pain. In a snap we can go from long, down, tangled hair to some of our fave hair do’s…without the drama. No wonder these Ouchless brushes are winners of the 2016 Parent Tested, Parent Approved Award.
Here are some of our best hair hacks for getting out the door in style:
If my oldest is off to work or the gym all she really needs is an easy pony. She counts on Goody elastics to hold her thick hair in place for all her classes. Whether she chooses neutrals or brights, we can count on the strength of the no-metal elastics to keep her hair up as she tackles the rest of her day. Kali loves that these elastics won’t pull or snag her hair as she flips her way through the remainder of her day. If she’s looking for something a little fancier she throws in the Goody® Ouchless® Ribbon Elastics. Not only do they hold in place, but the soft and stretchy ribbon elastics are comfortable in her hair or even on her wrist. Cute and fashionable.
My youngest, the dancer in the family, needs an up-do with a little more panache. A ballet bun is frequently required. Are you the master of the ballet bun? I am! As a Mom, sometimes we learn these hair tricks by trial and error. When to do the low pony, how to master the ballet bun, what’s quick? Sometimes we ask our girlfriends how on earth they get their daughter’s hair to stay up all day. Other times we need some help. Really all we need are some fabulous products and a couple of hair hacks!
Here are a couple of my tried and true favourite hair hacks:
- Do you know there is a ballet bun hack? I’m about to rock your world because this bun is not just for the ballerina but anyone who wants a sleek up-do in a hurry. Even better news, Goody offers simple bun maker kit, and it’s easy to use.
My hack; these three easy steps. In my house, we call it the “roll down bun”. It’s so easy, I taught my Husband how to do it!
- Make a high pony and secure tightly with elastics.
- Pull your hair through the bun (or doughnut as we call it) leaving just the ends sticking out.
- Fold the hair over the doughnut and roll. Roll the hair down until you reach the base of your skull then secure with another elastic and some bobby pins. Add a little hairspray if needed and voila! The perfect bun!
2) Make your Pony Tail Pop!
Start with your high pony. Don’t think it’s sitting “up” enough? Criss-cross two Goody bobby pins through your hair tie, at the bottom of your pony, pointing towards the nape of your neck. This will instantly give your pony tail more height.
3) The Tiered Pony Tail
Have shorter hair but wish you had a long gorgeous pony? Layer it up! Instead of one shortish pony tail, part your hair making a half pony on the top of your head. Curl or straighten as desired. Then add a second pony directly underneath. Using your fingers lightly brush the two pony’s combining into one and your end result is one full fabulous and longer pony tail!
4) The Fish Braid
Master the Fish Braid by starting out with a tiny Goody no-metal elastic as your base. This will help anchor your braid and keep it tight. Once your braid is complete, snip the elastic to reveal a perfectly tight and gorgeous plait. Want to mix it up a little? Pull your braid apart a little to give it a full look. Another option? For a more refined look Goody has a set called the “Fancy Fishtail Kit”, it will add just a little bling to your braid!
5) Stay In Place Bangs
Pin back bangs with a single pleat of french braid and double stranded Goody Ouchless Headwrap. The perfect combination. Start your braid at your part and follow down to your ear, bobby pin to stay in place, add the headwrap for a little extra style.
No matter how you mastered the art of “hair” it’s great to know Goody is there every step of the way.
Now that I feel like a pro I can’t wait to introduce my SassyNiece to the newest Goody line, the Troll Dolls have just entered the scene and you will squeal at the cuteness of it all.
How adorable will that wee girl look decked out in no-slip headbands in bright colours. She will be cuteness personified in barrettes embroidered with sweet flowers and characters, and I can’t wait until her blonde/reddish hair is just a little bit longer so we can get her into the cutest and softest Trolls ribbon elastics.

I would be the most excited one over the hair elastics. My cheap elastics stretch, break or make me go OUCH. I was interested in learning how to do the “roll down bun”. I google & couldn’t find out what that purple tool at the top of the sixth picture was. 🇨🇦
