Let’s face it, as far as days of the week go, Mondays are the worst. Fridays are all Fri-yeah! Saturdays are crammed with fun. Sundays bring us lots of time for family, then WHAM. Mondays. Back to school, work, groceries, cooking, car-pool. Bleh. A big old dose of reality slapped right in your face. You can’t avoid it, it’s never going to be the best day of your week, but you can make it suck a little less. With that in mind; here are 5 ways to make every Monday suck just a little less.
- Be An Early Riser. I know this may sound contradictory, in most cases sleep is your friend. But if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes on Monday morning to get your pretty on, be that trying out a new hair-style, spending a few extra minutes on your make-up, or simply picking an outfit to wear that makes you feel good, it will help you set the mood for the rest of the day.
- Caffeine. Treat yourself to your favourite caffeinated bevy to get your day off on the right foot. Tea, frappuccino, latte, black coffee, whatever your pleasure Monday is the day to get your speciality fix. Monday mornings are far more tolerable if you have a fabulous caffeinated treat to look forward to. Related: Why doesn’t Starbucks deliver?
- Eat. Are you are breakfast skipper? I am. Skipping breakfast on Monday morning is like being a saboteur in your own life. By 10am you’ve got the mid-morning slump and associated crankiness that comes with it. No one can be their best selves when they are running on coffee alone.
- Get outside. Breath the fresh air, walk the dog, rake the leaves or even shovel the damn snow. A little fresh air puts everything in perspective and might make that Monday a little more tolerable.
- Treat yourself. Mondays will suck a whole lot less if you have plans to look forward to at the end of the day. Drinks with a girlfriend, shopping with your kiddos, a movie with your love. Can’t squeeze that in? Why not take a spin around the book store and pick up the newest hottest release, or walk through the travel section and start planning that next incredible vacation. I’m a firm believer that travel brochures are always a good idea.
If we stop living for the weekends, finding a little joy in every single day, maybe that Monday morning dread will become a thing of the past. Hoping your Monday morning won’t suck too much this week!

You’ve got some good tips but #1 is way out for me because I’m a night hawk. For 3 days I’ve gotten up early because we’re renovating our bathroom and I’ve never been more tired or miserable. But my bathroom looks awesome !
