Some Christmas Days looks a little bit like a Norman Rockwell painting, others….not so much. As the big day draws near I’ve realized, I may not “get it all done”. My ridiculous to do list is never ending. The cookies, the wrapping, the need for more lights. The shopping, the extra time I had planned to spend with family and friends, the cleaning that needs to be done. It’s going off the rails. The clock is beating me AND do you know what I’m going to do about it? I’m going to let it go.
My realization; the house is not going to be that picture perfect Christmas “Leave It To Beaver” style holiday. Umm, not that this was the intent. I was sort of going for a Martha Stewart meets Leave to Beaver Christmas with the addition of copious amounts of Prosecco and a Hubby who does most of the cooking.
Instead I shall aim for: Christmas shopping completed, happy healthy kids, a sort of clean house and time with family. I will call my girlfriends and swear to get together with them in the New Year….and then I will follow through! I will not run around like a crazy person only to arrive at the finish line exhausted and sick. I shall instead arrive at Christmas morning with a happy heart, and a content soul. I will try and take at least one family photo. I will not stress about dirty dishes. I will live in the moment. I will hug my family and wish everyone I meet Happy Holidays and a year of health and love.
This year I’m dreaming of a perfectly imperfect Christmas….and I’m betting all of my dreams will come true.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Me too, we had a “Christmas picnic” tonight. I turned off the lights and we ate by the glow of the Christmas tree and I couldn’t see the mess. It was wonderful.
