2016 has come to a close. As with all families, we’ve had some blessed moments, some good days and some bad. We’ve had moments that have taken our breath away. A few tears and lots of laughter. 2016 has been an epic a year and I’m happy for every moment. All those combined ups and downs have brought us to where we are today. So when asked; “What will your resolution be for the New Year?“. My answer will be a little different this year. My response shall be a simple… “Nothing”. Instead of a list of resolutions that will be broken before the snow melts, I will instead strive to create opportunities that make my everyday, the everyday of my family, just a little bit sweeter. Here’s are just a few ideas I will be putting into action for this new year of new dreams and no resolutions.
Saving our happy days:
Adventure is always on our mind. So another priority for 2017, I will save money for travel….painlessly! Every time a $5 bill falls into my possession I will throw it into a mason jar we keep in the kitchen. If I keep it right where I can see it, I won’t forget that goal! Confession: I started this today and already have $10.00 in the jar! Imagine how much we might have be able to save as 2017 comes to a close!
Creating me time. I will not feel guilty for making time for me. How will I do this? I may have to hide in my room with a good book. This may be the only way I truly make time for me so it’s time to pick out some of those top books of 2016, put them by the bedside table, turn the cellphone and television off and jump into the pages of a good book. I’m already excited.
These are my only three non-reslotution, resolutions. This year I will strive to smile more, stress less, and be excited. I will try new things, see new places, save for travel, and try to see the best in people. I will save the happy, save some money and save some time for me. I’m so excited to see what lays ahead. Three cheers for a fabulous 2017! May it be filled with joy, adventure, health and happiness for all of us! Mwah.
