Some weekends fly by because you’re having so much fun. Others? The opposite. Too much to do, and not nearly enough time. This weekend was one of those. This next week we’re having some new floors put in upstairs. Old satined carpets be gone! But do you know what that means? It means we must move around 17 years worth of crap to “be ready” for the arrival of the magic carpet and hardwood man. Hmm, maybe I shouldn’t call him the magic hardwood man? Do you know how much fun it is to get two teenage girls to clean up every bit of crap off their floor, under beds, dressers and out of closets? Do you know how much fun it is to clear out your own clutter and own that? Absolutely no fun at all. There were no tears, but voices did get kind of screechy. So today, I’m celebrating all the small victories of the weekend.
- Sunday morning there was enough cream left for one last coffee.
- I made muffins, and only ate one. Okay, 2 out of the 2 dozen. Still calling that self control.
- Why was my dresser so heavy? There was a ridiculous amount of change in the bottom of my lingerie drawer. Victory. Into the vacation fund it goes.
- We re-discovered some over the top cute pictures from days gone by. Good grief I make cute kids.
- Hours spent cleaning with music blaring really isn’t that bad when you get into it, but it’s still a good excuse to reward yourself. So we did! Duh. It’s only logical. Kids had pizza. Hubby and I celebrated with a date night! Is there anything sweeter than dating your Hubby? Sweet victory.
- Two big trips were made to Good Will with donations. The house already feels cleaner, lighter, more organized.
- I am Martha Freaking Stewart. 7. The number of loads of laundry done, folded, organized and put away.
- 1. The number of times I cheered out loud because I found the piece of gum in the jacket pocket before it went into the washing machine.
- Big picture, it wasn’t pretty. But we got it all done.
Sometimes you just have to take joy in life’s little victories.

Sounds like it was a very productive weekend in your house. I spend the weekend trying to keep a 6 month puppy quiet after her spay surgery on Friday.

We spent the weekend working on our foyer, stairway and hallway so I feel you, there was some purging going on and everything was a bit of a mess but I can’t wait until it’s finished so it will be worth it in the end!
