Forty-six. For years shy of 50? Yes, today is my Birthday and this is what 46 looks like. So how does a blogger celebrate? By oversharing of course!
This year I’m laying it all out there for the world to see; my dreams, my truths, my pride and joy, and even some of my deepest and darkest fears.
Here we go…. 46 crazy, wonderful, things about me.
- I am the Mother of 2 teen girls – and it is tiring. Amazing, but – kind of exhausting stuff.
- I’ve been married for 20 years! Hello. How awesome is that?
- Our house is home to a cat. (It took my girls 7 years to talk me into getting that creature of the night.)
- And a dog. The Great Dane pup now weighs almost 190 lbs and he’s pretty sure he’s a lap dog.
- I am Canadian! (and proud of it)
- I met my Husband while on Spring Break in Cancun, as one does.
- I’m addicted to travel and a complete hotel snob. I own that.
- I wish we only had two seasons; Summer and Fall.
- I’m 5’9″ 1/2 Yup, I’m that tall girl.
- I’ve been blogging for 8 years and am so grateful for the gifts this career path has brought my way.
- I love when my house is full of people, but hate cleaning up so they can come over.
- I am truly directionally challenged. (and forever thankful my GPS hasn’t directed me into a lake)
- Ultimate date night? Dinner of appetizers, a blank sheet of paper, travel books, and time spent planning that next vacation.
- I can drive a standard like a bad ass.
- I hate horror movies.
- Do you believe in ghosts? I do.
- Can’t get enough of romantic flicks with the perfect happy ending.
- I love my iPhone, What? That’s normal.
- When I’m in my car, I often yell at other drivers who are bothering me. Again, totally normal.
- I live in fear of the Dentist. True, hand shaking, sweat inducing, stomach churning fear.
- I know Coca Cola is bad for me, but love it anyway.
- I believe in the power of love.
- Popcorn is my favourite meal. Yes, I said meal.
- I think spiders are the work of the devil. Shiver. They just fall from the sky!
- Migraines are my worst enemy.
- I don’t believe in petty gossip.
- I understand the struggle between work and family- even though I work from home.
- I believe in happy endings.
- The state of the world…terrifies me.
- I thank God for my Sister everyday.
- I hope I’ve taught my girls to dream big, work hard, and believe in themselves.
- I don’t trust easily.
- My family and my friends….they are my everything.
- I want my girls and all of their friends to know, they are always welcome at our house. Our doors are always open, we will always be a soft place to fall.
- My husband makes me proud every day.
- My girls leave me in awe with their kindness, their beauty and their determination to succeed.
- I will forever be thankful to my Parents for the example they have set and the life they have given me.
- I’m blessed to have in-laws I adore.
- I truly feel there are not enough hours in the day.
- My happiest childhood memories are at the cottage with my family and hope I’m creating those “warm fuzzy” memories for my girls.
- My first job was working as a server in a banquet hall.
- I believe if everyone was a little kinder, the world would be a better place.
- There’s no such thing as too much bacon.
- I don’t like brussel sprouts and no, you can’t convince me they are worth another try.
- I think we all need to start celebrating more things with champagne.
- I am a planner. I love lists, calendars and countdowns.
Whew. Is it time for cake now?
My wish for this next year? Happiness and health for all I love, new adventures for my family and friends, a few new places checked off that travel bucket list, and of course countless more reasons to raise that glass of champagne!

Happy belated birthday! It’s amazing that you wrote such a positive post about getting older. Most women are not thrilled with the thought of growing older. I am 51 and had a tough time with it myself until I realized that aging is a privilege that many don’t get. We should celebrate making it to each and every birthday as we are very lucky when we do! ☺
