Last night I sat down with a steaming cup of tea, my brand new 2017-2018 calendar, and all my pretty little pens and highlighters. I had to start filling in all those blanks with “must do’s” and “where to be’s”, it’s the only way to survive….the extracurriculars! You see, it’s that time of year where the email is filling up with new calendars for dance, try-outs for volleyball, and requests to support gymnastics. Do you feel it? The panic, the pressure, not just to make all your children’s activities seamlessly fit into your daily lives, but also to do find a way to pay for it all. We all want the best for our kiddos, and this often means financially supporting the teams and groups they are a part of. This is why I was thrilled to find out about FundScrip. Have you heard of it? Do you have a child on a sports team, doing extracurricular activities, or are you simply part of a group that needs to raise money? Then you need to know about FundScrip!
FundScrip is a fundraising program, which is used by Canadian groups to raise donations and it’s kind of brilliant.
FundScrip is a Canada-wide fundraising program in which your supporters pay for their everyday shopping with gift cards bought from FundScrip. A percentage of the cards purchased is then donated to your group. Basically, the group supporters buy gift cards for items they would normally buy anyway, think coffee, groceries, gas, clothes, movies, or even pizza. There’s a huge list of registered FundScrip retailers. FundScrip then makes a donation to the group for every gift card purchased. It’s that easy! Really!
Let’s break it down some more.
FundScrip has made fundraising easy. They encourage us, the supporters of our kids in church groups, hockey and soccer teams, bands, any organized group that is fundraising, to use gift cards in a novel way. A way that benefits us!
Step 1: Buy $100, Get $100. Buy gift cards at face value, get face value at the retailers – you lose nothing.
Step 2: Shop As Usual. With cards from over 190 leading retailers, there’s no need to change your shopping habits.
Step 3: Pay with gift cards instead of credit/debit/cash for your everyday items & gifts.
Step 4: Raise Funds. Each purchase automatically includes a donation for your group that can quickly add up over time. For each gift card you buy, you’ll receive a donation on top of the value of the card from 2% to 10%
Step 5: Repeat! (and tell your friends)
What’s amazing is that groups across Canada have raised over $18 Million in funds since 2004! Yes, 18 MILLION!
It won’t take long before raising 3% back on every shop at Loblaw, 8% at Children’s Place, 5% at Chapters, and 10% at Pizza Pizza will add up. AND there are so many participating FundScrip Retailers!
FundScrip is an easy fundraising solution that anyone can participate in. A painless way to raise a little extra money towards our children’s extracurricular activities, and for the first time in forever, I’m excited about fundraising!
I can’t wait to see how much money I can raise for my daughters’ dance team this year, and I’m excited to introduce this program to the other dancers and dance Mom’s. Hmm, perhaps a friendly competition to see who can raise the most? If you’re looking for a way to meet your fundraising goals and make your life a little easier this school year, be sure to check out FundScrip ~ an amazing fundraising solution! So what are you waiting for? It’s free to sign up and try this fun and novel fundraising program.
