This weekend I took my girls to the mall in an attempt to do a one stop back to school shopping trip. Pft. Yah, that didn’t work out. Two teens and one Mama all agreeing on clothes that are appropriate for back to school and that won’t break the bank? Well, that my friends is a post for another day.
Today I need to rant about this:
When I went shopping what I did find was a cute little shirt for me. Kind of like this one!

A simple little while number with 3/4 sleeves and buttons up the front. My problem. I barely fit into the size large. Barely! Now here is the thing. I think I’m a pretty average Mama. A bit on the tall side, but average. I’m 5 ft 9” and weigh..well, none of your business what I weigh! (but the airlines aren’t asking me to step on a scale before I’m allowed on a plane. Average.)
So here is my question to you. If this average Canadian Mama is barely squeezing her bod with teeny boobs into a LARGE size shirt, what on earth are the women who are just a wee bit bigger than me, or with big boobs wearing? What the hell is going on? How did we as women come to accept this as normal!
Imagine if a clothing line was created where a medium size woman could fit into a medium size shirt. If the next size up was called Regular and the third size was deemed Normal? Sigh. Those clothing designers aren’t making it any easier to survive life in the suburbs.

I buy stretchy pants and go up a size!

I so agree. I am a bigger person, large shoulders and chest area… and i hate that my kid fits the large… what am I supposed to be LOL? Some stores have better sizing for the modern woman!

my friend told me she had that problem.

Same is happening with shoes, it makes me crazy every brand has their own version of what these sizes are, sadly there is no standard

I hear you. Although it shouldn’t bother me, I’m not happy if I have to buy an XL. I find the more expensive clothes have better sizing.

I hear you the sizing is crazy! You can never just grab you size and go anymore, definitely have to try it on.

I have this too. At some stores I’m an extra large, but most of the time I’m a medium. I always grab more than one size to try on.

Honestly, I hate any shirt with buttons. I’m an XS and they don’t fit me right because of my boobs! The buttons don’t close right over them and it feels so tight so I’ve given up on those stupid button down shirts. Screw them, find something that fits you properly and makes you feel like a million bucks, whatever size you are. 😉

We arenot shopping at those stores. I have a very small list of place where I can shop and their clothing will fit. lately one of those shops is being a “royal” shall I say PITA due to their new sizing. Things that were great in 2016 are not in 2017 even if I go up a size to accommodate my new to me butt/boob ap. There new “style” isn’t for me, it’s for people who have never had a baby ever!

I am a very petite gal – average a size 2/3 in most shops. *IVE* gone into stores where I barely fit a large.. and question who fits a small if I am busting the seems out of a large. Sizing is messed up these days
nicky says
Totally. Labels on clothing don’t usually accurately describe the size, plus all stores have different labelling which make it hard to know what will fit correctly!

I’m waiting for them to come out with a size -1 lol!

Seems way too easy to have consistent sizing, however, I am still trying to figure out what the hell a size zero is. Who came up with this as an actual clothing size? Doesn’t that mean the person is non existent?

I hear you,one time i could pick up a large and be on my way now i have to take M/L/XL in the fitting room and try before i buy
