How do you choose a hotel? I yearn for something with a view, a memorable space, it must be classy, yet small and intimate enough to feel like home, and of course, location is always key. Selecting a place for a Los Angeles getaway is not as simple as you may think. LA is a sprawling city with seemingly countless attractions spread out over numerous gorgeous little neighbourhoods and districts. When traveling for work or pleasure, where is one to stay? Hollywood, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Venice Beach, Santa Monica? The list of areas to stay in is plentiful, and the choice in hotel nearly endless. Our decision to stay to at The Wilshire Hotel, a Kimpton property, was absolutely the perfect location for this adventure around La La Land.
Urban. Modern. Stylish. The Wilshire Hotel is beautiful boutique style hotel located on the famous Miracle Mile. At 6317 Wilshire you will find a bustling stretch of road that reaches between La Brea and Fairfax Avenues and is not far from all the places one might want to explore. Beverley Hills to one side of you, Hollywood to the other and Sunset Strip and The Grove are just minutes away. Just check in and let your adventure begin.
The mood is set immediately as you are embraced by the cool contemporary vibe of the lobby and greeted by the warm welcoming staff.
When you are ushered to your quiet suite in this 72 room property, what awaits you is a chic space and a lovely layout.
Each and every room is afforded a long list of amenities:
- In-Room Dining
- Luxurious Frette Linens
- In-Room Yoga Mats
- Minibar
- Signature Animal Print Robes
- Umbrella
**Did you take note that those in-room robes are ANIMAL PRINT? Fabulous. Also worthy of note; this boutique hotel is both child and dog-friendly. If you are seeking accommodations that are a little bigger, be sure to check out one of the spacious suites. Perfection.

As remarkable as the suites are, you won’t want to spend much time in them for up the on the roof a little slice of heaven awaits. The spectacular rooftop and pool bar. With expansive views of the stunning Los Angeles skyline, you may just feel the need to pinch yourself.
As you sit down and order yourself a much-deserved mojito, lemonade, or glass of champagne, be sure to remember to look off in the distance for your first glimpse of the famous Hollywood sign. This is the way to begin a vacation. The staggering view is only topped by the fabulous service and creative menu lovingly created by Celebrity Chef Eric Greenspan.
Whether you are looking for drinks and lunch (and maybe a little celebrity spotting), a quiet spot to sit and chat, or a lively gathering place for family and friends – including candles and firepits as required,, the Rooftop on Wilshire has captured a little bit of Hollywood magic right there on the boulevard.
What we loved:
*For our first trip to LA we found this to be the perfect location. Close enough to explore the biggest attractions on our hit list, and the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice were still within reach by Uber without breaking the bank.
*The staff went over and above to make us feel welcome. The Hotel Wilshire quickly felt like a home away from home.
*The Roof On Wilshire stole my heart. It had a vibe that is nearly indescribable and the food unforgettable.
*The rooms were spotless, spacious and quiet.
What we missed:
*This was a girls trip. The bathroom was massive with a large tub and separate shower. It was also the only place in the room with a mirror. We would have loved a second mirror in the room.
*Room service was on point and reasonably priced. What we missed were quality local restaurants within walking distance.
Summary:
We felt safe, spoiled, and that rooftop restaurant was truly the icing on the cake. We would reccomend this hotel to family and friends and would stay here again!
Disclosure: Accommodations were made in order to help provide this review. As always all opinions on this blog remain my own.
