How do you add joy to your everyday? How do you make sure you don’t get lost in the crush of the morning routine, the madness of work – whether that be in the office or at home – and the pure crazy that happens at the end of the day. Surviving life in the suburbs can be a challenge. Kids, carpool, the dog, the cat, grocery shopping, bills to pay, the list goes on and on, and it’s not hard to become overwhelmed. The best, the only way I know how to live my best life, is to make a point to stop and smell the happiness in every day.
Each morning I wake up and make a dozen little decisions to help create a joyful day. I pay it forward when I can. Spend time with family. Squeeze in a date night whenever possible and do my best to put a twist on the more mundane tasks of the day. Chores aren’t quite as dull if you can find the joy in them.
- Grocery shopping isn’t quite as boring if you make a point of purposely complimenting at least one person you run into along the way.
- Carpool is made so much better by singing at the top of my lungs to some very sappy Country tunes. Bonus points if you can embarrass your daughter at the same time.
- Cooking dinner is much more fun with help. Enlist the family as sous chefs. More hands make less work and ensure much-needed quality time. Some deep and wonderful conversations can happen while you chop the carrots and stir the sauce.
- Shh don’t tell, but while I fold the laundry I crank the music and dance like nobody is watching. It’s the perfect time to take a deep breath, to stop and smell the happiness. This is made even easier thanks to the NEW Gain Botanique scent. The sweet nature-inspired scents of White Tea & Lavender and Orange Blossom Vanilla help to make doing laundry a pleasure.
Do you stop and smell the happiness in your everyday life? Why not start with your laundry! Turn on the music, ask for help, and choose a laundry detergent that is a good choice for your family and all their laundry needs. NEW Gain Botanique now offers a simpler, more responsible detergent with vibrant scent-sations that will transport you away from the laundry room and directly into nature with every load. The smell is fresh, crisp, clean and gentle. I love that NEW Gain Botanique provides an amazing, nature-inspired scent experience and is gentle enough to use on all of my families clothes, even my daughters with sensitive skin. It’s a product that makes you feel good, and you can feel good about using!

I try to walk to pick up my kids from school. It forces me to give up my housework earlier, take some time for myself to walk/think/get exercise uninterrupted (on the way there anyway!), and enjoy a nice chat with handholding and smiles with them on the way home. It gives me more time with my kids where it’s just us, and we can enjoy each other’s company.
