Are you ready to start planning that next vacation? Why not use your tech to make it easier? Never underestimate the power of good app to make your life easier and your travel experience just that much more enjoyable.
Here are our 7 favourite apps for planning that next vacation.
If you need to book a flight, then you need to have Hopper.
This app allows you to input your desired destination and then it watches your flight for you. Hopper analyzes thousands of flights, keeping an eye on your desired trip for you, and sends you notifications the instant prices drop allowing you to buy your flights at the very best time.
Seat Guru
I’ve long been a fan of SeatGuru.com – never booking a seat on a plane without first consulting that seat map.
Now you can check out the best reviews, recommendations, seat maps and even insights from over 45,000 flier reviews, and it’s all right at your fingertips on a mobile app. Now when you arrive at the airport and are ready to check in for your flight you have an app that helps you pick your best seat! The Seat Guru mobile app allows you to always find the best seat before you fly.
Once you’re ready to move on from planning to packing – there’s an app for that! My newest obsession. Packing Pro. You can download it on your phone or iPad and let the packing begin!
Pro is a super-enhanced mobile travel list app that features unlimited, 100% customizable packing lists. If you also desire great syncing & sharing options, a huge catalog, lots of sample lists, display customization & additional, built-in Expert assistance, then Packing Pro is for you!
Uber: Catching a ride in a new city can be overwhelming when you don’t know the area.
Make your life easier with Uber! After perusing an assortment of differing vehicle type, rates and fare quotes you simply click and wait for your ride to arrive. No cash changes hands as you securely pay for your ride via your credit card already linked to your account. Bonus: If you are traveling in a Country where you don’t speak the language you can avoid confusion between you and the driver by having the ability to type in your destination. Genius.
Hotel Tonight: This is another free app!
Hotels give the app their unsold rooms. You can search for the day’s best deals. Click and book. It’s is an easy way to book great hotels at fabulous last-minute rates on your mobile device. Hotel Tonight also has a loyalty program so the more often you book, the more you save!
Sit or Squat
Self-explanatory? This is an app you hope you will never need but when you do happen to need to dash to a washroom you will be happy to have this one at your fingertips. The app scans a database of over 100,000 public restrooms nearest your location that has been rated “sit” (the good restrooms) or “squat” (it could be better) by users.
Google Maps
Simply because getting lost isn’t fun. Tap offline areas in the main menu and you can store a large chunk of virtual territory on your phone to work without your internet connection. A must-have for the directionally challenged!
Happy Travels!

This is really nice IF one has an I phone but ours is just a basic one that we don’t even have internet on etc. We have it only for emergencies etc or for hubby and I to get in touch with one another during the weeks.
