It’s no secret that I am a Mama addicted to travel. It’s also no secret, that even the most carefully planned and budgeted trip can add up quickly. So how do you save money, be smart, and ensure you can take that next trip sooner? By making a few smart decisions along the way. Here are 10 of my favourite travel accessories you can find at the dollar store!
Travel Size Toiletries. From shampoo and conditioner, to hand lotion and lip balm, the Dollar Store has a surprisingly good selection. If you don’t find your favourite brand, then just pick up the TSA approved plastic bottles and cosmetic jars and create your own “travel size”.
Mini First Aid Kit. Having a first aid kit when you travel is always a good idea. Buy one from the Dollar store or fill up your own homemade kit with bandages, antibiotic cream, tweezers, antacids, cough drops, Advil and even Gravol. All your essentials can often be found in teeny, tiny form. * shown in this picture is the addition of some Booya bandages. Bandages with bling!
Sunglasses/Glasses Cases. Not just to protect your sunnies but a perfect size case to store your earphones.
Brilliant Bright Luggage Tags. No luggage left behind!
Neck Pillows. If you forget your pillow for the plane or wait to buy a neck pillow until you get to the airport you will pay a premium for that little piece of cushion. Pick one up on the cheap at your local dollar store.
A wrap. In a pinch, it quickly becomes a pillow, a blanket or the perfect pashmina. And if you are forever cold on planes like I am, grab a pair of fuzzy socks for the plane too!
Snacks. For obvious reasons. Snacks and gum are always a good idea, but even better when you can stock up at the Dollar Store.
Mini Power Strips. You know when you get to the hotel with your family and there is only ONE outlet to plug in 4 phones. Become an instant hero when you pull out a mini power strip giving the family 2 more plugs. Hero status often acquired the same way in Airport Lounges. When you pack your own power strip, you can always find a plug.
Hand Sanitizer and Wet Wipes. To protect yourself from all the icky things, and in airplane-friendly sizes of course.
Travel Journal. To keep track of all those amazing moments on your trip, be sure to pick up a fresh Travel Journal to document your journey.
Travel can be expensive, but that doesn’t mean getting for that next trip has to be. Happy shopping!

I remember having to pay a fortune in travel supplies before the dollar store came about.

They also have those nylon packing bags. Those have saved my carry on bag so I can fit much more. I put in all my bras, socks and underwear and even pjs. When you zip them up, much of the air is removed and it compacts it so much.

Who knew you could find everything you need for travel at the dollar store.
You missed disinfecting wipes and alcohol to try to clean everything from the other travelers before you. Yuck ! Oh and a blue light to show how well the room is not cleaned, that’s the one thing that I don’t miss now that I don’t travel anymore. double Yuck !!!!!! I’m a germaphobe !

Getting dollar store sunglasses is a good idea. My kids tend to play with mine and they’re never in very good condition when they’re done.
