Summer is finally here! Fresh fruit abounds, herbs and veggies growing to perfection in the garden, and salad for lunch becomes my go to. At this time of year when the sun is shining, it just seems easier to get out and enjoy Mother Nature, take advantage of all the good weather provides from hikes and swimming, to healthier eats and treats. But have you ever felt like you need to mix it up? Perhaps you could use a little inspiration to keep you and your family on the right track? I know I do. This is why I was so happy to hear about the introduction of Breville’s Colour Me Healthy initiative.
This fabulous site is an incredible nutritional resource to make the journey to more colourful eating, deliciously simple. Just like a rainbow, everyone is different, which is why Breville helps you easily discover whether juicing, blending (or both!) is best for you. From this helpful site you can discover a Fresh Planner of curated recipes that take the guesswork out of healthy living, nutritional facts, video, and so much more – a fsbulous way to kick-start your summer of fresh-inspired blending & juicing.
As you dive into the Fresh Planner site it doesn’t’ take you long to get lost in the endless juicing and blending possibilities. I’ve long considered doing a juice fast – buying into one of those fancy juice services that deliver to your door – but the Fresh Planner seems to make much more sense for my life. The Fresh Planner has created a 5 and 7-day recipe planner ( for juicing or blending) that helps you to include more fruits and vegetables into your diet. This is a great way to help improve your mental health and sense of well-being, plus, it’s delicious.

As soon as I unboxed this little beauty I had company in the kitchen eager to assist me with my smoothie experiments. The only people in my house that love a great smoothie more than a Mama, are her kids. Since I’d already been to the farmers market we had a fridge full of fresh ingredients just waiting to be blended into a healthy breakfast or snack. We picked a couple of recipes from the site and went for it.
What I loved:
- It’s pretty. As this blender sits on my counter it’s important to me that it also fits into my decor.
- The size of the blender allows you to easily dump all your ingredients in at once.
- It crushed and blended anything I threw at it…like a boss!
- The Breville blender truly blends to a remarkable smoothness.
Best Tips:
- To speed up the smoothie making process make a “smoothie to go” pack. Prep all the things by pre-washing, cutting, packing and freezing your favourite fruits and veggies in one bag. Store these in the freezer all ready to go Ziplock bags.
- To make your smoothies even more nutritious, ditch the ice and use frozen fruit.
- Like a “smoother” smoothie? Add avocado or greek yogurt.
- If your smoothie is too thin, add half a frozen banana.
Favourtie Drink: After trying a number of new recipes from the site this one is a new family fave thw Rasberry, Pear & Vanilla Smoothie- we just added some extra strawberries and a kiwi on top becuase we like a little texture!
Simply blend the following ingredients together – and if desired serve over ice.
- 1 Banana
- a handful of frozen raspberries
- 2 tablespoons of organic yogurt
- 1 roughly chopped green pear
- about 5 strawberries
Enjoy!
