Travel. It’s the one topic I could talk about for hours, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or complicated! After countless trips here are my 10 Logical Travel Tips guaranteed to make your next trip better.
- Book early for cheap flights. If you know when you want to travel, if you’re planning that dream vacation for next year, start watching those flights about 10 months out. This way you can learn the average price of flights and jump on a seat sale when you see one. Insider Tip: When searching the same sites over and over again for flights. clear those cookies often, it makes a difference.
- Going somewhere exotic? Check in with your Doctor before you go. Make sure all you shots are up to date, and that you don’t need any specific immunizations for your country of choice.
- Do you know where your Passport is? Good! Now check the date on that passport and make sure it’s no where near expiry.
- Put all your prescription medications in your carry on. Then add in any extra medications to that carry on too. Think Advil, Gravol, Tylonel. Anything that you may need while travelling.
- Pack a little extra. Underwear and medications that is. Always pack an extra couple days worth of prescription medication and one extra change of clothes in your carry on. Delays happen.
- Take pictures of all the important things. Passport, tickets and insurance info and send them to yourself. Then if you ever loose those important documents you can access them from your e-mail accounts.
- When travelling with someone else – do a clothes swap! Half of your clothes in your suitcase/half in his. Then if your suitcase is lost or delayed you will be okay until it’s found.
- Embrace the power of the Ziplock Bag. When you’re packing throw in an extra large ziplock bag (for dirty undergarments or wet bathing suits) and a Dryer Sheet or two. These two tricks will help keep your laundry fresher.
- Prepare for the noise. Pack ear plugs, or if you’re a really light sleeper a white noise machine. (there are even some great white noise apps) No two ways about it, hotels can be noisy. If there aren’t ocean waves to lull you to sleep, and perhaps drown out the sound of snoring partner, a white noise machine can save your vacation. Related: Don’t be afraid to request a quiet room – away from the elevator and ice machine. It makes a difference!
- Be flexible. Schedules, plans and packed itineraries are lovely. We all want to see all the things. But some of the best memories made on trips are during the moments in between. Be sure to build in down time to just wander, shops, get lost, sit on the beach or explore. That’s where the memories are really made.

Great advice!! I always bring extra of everything! It’s a wee issue for me I go with the Girl Scout motto always be prepared for everything and anything always. You never what you might need and buying on vacation you will pay full dollar so best to be over prepared IMO. Thank you great read!!

There are a few things here that I never even considered when going on vacation. Such as the fabric softner sheets, taking pictures of documents. I’ve always packed extras in my carry on if I travel alone. Such great tips I will remember.

The Clothes Swap is a great idea – we do that when we travel. Also, we bring a change of clothes in our carry-on (and a swimsuit if the hotel has a pool!) in case our checked baggage gets lost/delayed.
