Have you figured out what you’re going to get your Mom for Mother’s Day? Have you thought about it? I hope so! You know we say it’s no big deal but let’s face it we all want to be acknowledged in some little way. This is your chance to celebrate the woman who gave you life, placed the world at your feet, attended endless school concerts, drove you in countless carpools, kept you alive with at least passable dinners, and who always (almost) without fail, put your needs, wants and feelings first. So yah, No. Big. Deal. The good news? You don’t panic. The best things about Moms – we really don’t want a lot. Lucky for all of you, for most of us Mom creatures, we find joy in the little things.
Here are some simple ways to show your Mom some love this Mother’s Day:
Give her time to sleep in! Feed the dog, shut that cat up, shush the other people in the house. Do whatever it takes to let us sleep until we want to get up. Awe. The sleep-in is gold!
Breakfast in bed. Always a winner as long as you CLEAN UP afterwards. (don’t forget the bacon) PS I’m married to a man who pulls his weight in the cooking department, but a day off from doing the dishes is the ultimate.
Gift her control. Of the remote control! Oh what a beautiful thing to have a full day of watching everything she wants, maybe with a side of popcorn? Bonus points if you don’t roll your eyes when she asks you if you’ve ever seen Pretty In Pink. Just indulge her as she pulls out that Rogers Ignite TV Remote and speaks “Rom Com” into the speaker. So many movies, so little time.
Coffee. Delivered! Oh how I’ve dreamed of a Starbucks delivery truck. On Mother’s Day you can make this dream a reality for your Mama.
A fantastic book, and time to read it.
A hand written card or heartfelt note from the kids. For real. Sweetness.
A date with her family. Yup, a date. My girls are older now so if we can squeeze in a movie, dinner, shopping date or dessert and coffee I’m one happy girl.
Relieved of Dinner Duty. To not be asked; “What’s for dinner?” Sigh, we hate that question.
Need a more traditional gift? You can’t go wrong with flowers, chocolate and what ever happens to be sitting in her Amazon cart. Trust me, there’s something in there.
Processo. Full stop.
There’s no better job in the world than being a Mom. I know I’m blessed and grateful each and everyday for my Mom, my Mother-In-Law, my kids and my Sassy Hubby who without even being asked will try and make all my Mother’s Day wishes come true. Wishing all of you a happy, peaceful day, and to those who are missing their Mama’s this week, the biggest, warmest hugs.
Much love xoxo

I am obsessed with flowers and love anything in a hanging pot. I mean , I find it pleasing to have my dinner made or to have breakfast in bed, but if I get flowers I am over the moon.

Such a nice post. My mom has been gone many years, but we do fun things on Mother’s day to remember her. She was a great golfer, so a family golf game is always played that day. For me, being a mom was the best thing I did, I feel blessed to have these sweet souls in my life.
