Can you see it? There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Our “numbers” here in Canada are on a steady decline, restrictions are gradually being lifted and the vaccine is on the way. It has been a long, hard year and now instead of doom and gloom its time to talk about something else. Something that I daydream about daily – my obsession. Travel!
This past year meant a lot of cancelled trips for us. Some “for work”, more than a few for pleasure. On top of that while in quarantine my Hubby celebrated his 50th Birthday, mine is right around the corner (gulp) and our 25th wedding Anniversary is in September. Why do I tell you this? Because we are due for a blockbuster of an adventure – and maybe a few little trips too. The question now becomes when will you travel again and where will you go?
One destination we always have on our list, Florida. Kissimmee in particular has long been a family favourite and would be an incredible way to escape with the entire crew. Yes, I do still want to travel with all my people. With the changing travel landscape, Canadian families will be looking for private and safe accommodations for when they are able to travel again. Located in Central Florida, Kissimmee has 50,000 vacation homes, with a portion being larger-than-life estates that have hosted athletes, musicians, and many celebrities. Can you picture yourself in a 10-bedroom home with a lazy river, game room, movie theatre, and a golf course view? I know I can.
Kissimmee’s vacation homes may attract you because of the destination’s ideal location, steps away from world-famous theme parks but there are many more perks that will keep you coming back. Many vacation homes are located inside gated resorts that offer exclusive amenities to guests. Reunion Resort & Golf Club, one of Kissimmee’s most coveted locations, sits on a property of 2,300 acres. It features 10 pools, waterpark, spa, salon, fine dining options, and three signature golf courses designed by Nicklaus, Palmer, and Watson.
Jeeves Florida Rentals, a popular vacation home management company, refers to their mansions as Elite Homes. The Elite Homes go beyond square footage; they are custom built, with a high level of interior finish, and outstanding amenities and theming everyone will enjoy.
Guests of Kissimmee’s luxurious mansions can have private chefs, in-home spa services, and, in some homes, a personal home manager. Kids can immerse themselves in themed bedrooms with secret entrances, princess carriages or pirate ships as beds, and even rooms with treehouses and slides. Adults and children can enjoy elaborate in-home game rooms featuring arcade games, bowling alleys, rock climbing, and even laser tag arenas. Sign me up!
Our Second Option; This one for just me and the Hubby, a little jaunt through Europe. Yes – we are feeling the need to go back! This time around a three stop itinerary that would likely include Cannes, Monaco and Portofino. There so much to do along the coast it’s hard to know where to start. I know I want to take a day trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, a boat tour of the blue grotto off Capri Island, and a driving tour to Cote D”Azur. Is all that even possible? Have you been? Send suggestions of what not to miss please!
Third trip -oh yes – I have more than three I’m dreaming of it’s been a long year. This is one I had to put on the back burner thanks to our old friend Covid. A girls trip to Paris. I’ve spent HOURS daydreaming about what we might do. Lunch at the top of the Eiffel Tower – just because we can. Wandering though the Louvre. I can’t wait to go shopping on the Champs-Elysées, marvel at the Arc de Triomphe and take a cruise down the River Seine snapping countless pictures along the way. Also on my list, getting lost in the winding cobblestone streets of Montmartre searching for quaint boutiques, hidden art galleries, and quiet squares filled with outdoor cafés. Sigh, tell me that doesn’t sound like perfection.
Fourth trip is a couples vacay – Vegas baby. I haven’t been to Las Vegas in YEARS. This one is firmly on our must do list, it’s just a matter of when and were to stay. On the must do list for this trip a little gambling, a lot of shopping and if we are lucky dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. So fun!
Last one for now! Turks and Caicos. There’s just something about this island that keeps calling me back. It’s a short 4 hour flight from Toronto. The drive from the airport to your chosen hotel is always short and sweet. The people are kind and welcoming. and the beaches…oh my goodness the beaches!
A couple of my favourite hotels include: * Beaches Resort – All inclusive and ultra family friendly AND *Ocean Club West – Condo style accommodations right on the beach. I’m ready for new stamps in my passport right now!
Can you see the light at the end of tunnel? When the world finally rights itself and it’s safe to travel again where is the first place in the world your dreams will take you?

Ohhh I want to get back to Europe in the worst way. It’s amazing how much you can miss even the little things like the plane ride!
