An hour to myself? I’m working on it. And when I find that precious time I’m going to jump on my pool floaty drink in one hand good read in the other. All I need to do is make sure the fridge is stocked and there’s a stack of beachy reads waiting for me. Here are my top ten reads for the beach, pool or weekend escape this summer.
Girls Night Out: Liz Fenton
- Three friends head to Mexico to mend their friendship but the vacation gets bumpy when one of the girls goes missing.
The Good Daughter: Karin Slaughter
- A thriller for the beach! Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life.
The High Season: Judy Blendell
- A tale of the haves and have-nots in the Hamptons and what Ruthie will do to hang on to her families seaside home in Long Island to make end meet.
Our House: Lousie Candlish
- Fiona comes home to find strangers moving into her house – and then her Husband and 3 children go missing.
The Woman In The Window: A.J. Finn
- Anna lives alone in New York City and spends her days drinking — a lot. She also likes to spy on her new neighbors. But when she sees something happen one night when she shouldn’t be peeking, she has to figure out what’s actually real and who may be in danger.
Beach House Reunion: Mary Alice Monroe
- A sequel! The Rutledge family saga continues as they enjoy salt, sea breezes along with a little turmoil and a lot of romance. A new generation finds their own way while an older generation heals old wounds.
The High Tide Club: Mary Kay Andrews
- Murder, love and secrets. A 99-year-old heiress, an attorney and long-kept family secrets make for a good old-fashioned beach read.
Women In Sunlight: Frances Mayes
- From the author of Under The Tuscan Sun comes this novel, set in Tuscany, of three women seeking friendship abroad.
The Favorite Sister: Jessica Knoll
- Two sisters join a reality TV show but only one makes it out alive!
The Perfect Couple: Elin Hilderbrand
- The wedding of the seemingly perfect couple seems as if it will be a dream come true until the police find a body washed up in the harbour just hours before the ceremony. Now the entire wedding party is under suspicion.
This is where my summer book list starts. Do you have some to add? What else should I be reading this summer?

They all sound wonderful! I’ve managed to find time to finish one long novel so far this summer. I’ll have to put reading on my “To Do List” to make sure I carve out more reading time before summer is over.
