For the last three weeks my SassyHubby and I have been trying so hard to do something for ourselves and for our children. It’s just a little thing and it shouldn’t be so darn hard, but it has been; we are simply trying to eat in a healthier way. We have removed all junk food from the house, have banned fast food and are meal planning. Frankly. It sucks. I love love me a good pizza and when this Mama is super tired I have only a little guilt about picking up take-out for a quickie dinner. The problem, I was doing these things a little too often! So to the New Years pact. Less take out for dinner, and more cooking at home.
For the first couple of weeks of January, the SassyHubby and I kind of rocked it. No shortage of innovative menu ideas and only a couple of time where the kids turned their noses up at yet another salad versus the coveted French Fries. Then, we hit a point where we needed to start thinking outside the box to keep things interesting. What better way to do this, go Shopping of course? It’s how I roll! I started with cookbooks!
One of my fave places to shop continues to be SHOP.ca So sitting from my couch I quickly and easily identified two go to favourites.
Then it was on to more fun kitchen accessories and motivators to keep us on track.
One of the easiest and best things I am doing for myself is drinking more water. I already have a Brita in my fridge, but love the idea of a Brita On Tap! On sale right now for $44.99 this might be the greatest way to get clean water at the touch of a button.
Do any of you have one of these in your kitchens?
Then it’s time to start cooking! The quickest way to get some protein into my crew in the morning is with the power of eggs. We have a lot of fab kitchen gadgets, but one thing we don’t own is an Egg Poacher! I love the idea of being able too cook up four eggs at once with this Catering Line Egg Poacher. It’s also on sale right now for only $34.99!
Now that breakfast is taken care of, it’s time to think of creative ideas to ramp up lunch and dinner. Something that goes beyond the frying pan and crock pot. Boring. After looking through those South Beach Diet and Martha Stewart Cookbooks I can’t believe how many recipes call for a Food Processor! SHOP.ca has this gorgeous little number by Cuisinart that is both a Blender and a Food Processor!! WANT!
Cuisinart PREMIER DUET BLENDER \ FOOD PROCESSOR

*Heavy duty 600 watt motor powerful food prep, smooth blends and instant
ice crush.
*With the work bowl attached and the pusher in place, slicing and shredding
is quick and easy.
*The 50 oz heavy glass blender jar
*The clear shatter resistant work bowl can process up to 3 cups (750 ml)

Oh and did I mention this little beauty is also on sale? At only $119.99 you save $80.00!!
I think all this eating healthy means I also deserve a little something pretty to keep me motivated on that treadmill! SHOP.ca now carries a wide variety of Loko clothig. Made in Canada and of course, as always, buy from Shop and shipping is free. I’m thinking about this Loko Sport Sweetheart Tank. The bright colours are fabulous, and I adore the cut!
What do you think, does new workout wear get you moving? Or maybe I’m better off spending those fast food dollars on a sweet new dress to wear on my next vacation! Like, oh maybe this sweet little Chiffon Tube Maxi Dress?
Whatever my final decision I feel great resting in the knowledge that I’m making some changes in this new year that are great for me and setting a fabulous example for my kids. Thanks to SHOP.ca for making the clean eating and healthy living a little more manageable!

I know when I am trying to “stay on track”, be healthy, it just helps to have a sweet goal for myself in the end. Love the idea of rewarding myself with some on line shopping! Delivery too! Awesome!

I just started South Beach again today, hopefully seriously this time. It is so, so hard to say no to the sweets!

Having options for money not being spent on fast food and related sounds good to me. We could learn a lesson from you Stephanie.

@Jo Shopping really does keep me motivated! Even if it’s substituting a maggazine for that chocolate bar 🙂

Very impressive!! I always say I’m going to drink more water and meal plan, but I can’t get my butt in gear. However, when I watch any cooking show, that’s all I can think about. Perhaps my hubby needs to get me a gourmet kitchen and then I’ll start meal planning. Ha!! And great idea with the eggs. I do the same thing. 🙂

I say yes, nice workout clothes make me more inclined to get out and exercise. There’s something about a cute skort and a colorful tank top that make me feel like I can run farther.

It’s so true! Nothing keeps me on track like rewarding myself with something pretty:0 Think I will have to check out that maxi dress. I didn’t know shop.ca sold that kind of stuff.
