What does a vain girl do before she heads to a wedding of good friends? She prepares to look her best, gets out the fancy shoes and of course gets prepped for the tears. This weekend I will dance until my feet hurt, laugh with some fab friends, put on my finest clothes, and in all likelyhood have a good old fashioned cry. What is it about weddings that makes me all misty? My heart swells with joy as I watch that couple I adore vow to challenge the world together forever more. Part of me reflects back on all I’ve been through with my SassyHubby and I find myself grasping his strong hands tighter than before, truly grateful for a love that grows stronger with every passing day. No matter how I try to keep my emotions in check I always end up tearing up during the ceremony and lose it at least once during a good toast or speech. Pass the kleenex!
So this weekend, I will be prepared! I’ve tackled my favourite aisle in the drugstore and brought home just a few of my fave mascaras, all “water resistant” or “water proof” of course. I’ve tested, tackled and tried them all, and now I’ve decided which of these little beauties will help my eyes pop and prevent me from looking like a big old racoon by the end of the evening.
Today I bring to you my Top Five Best Mascaras (For A Wedding)!
1. CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume instantly made my lashes thicker and more noticeable, it really maxes out each and every lash. Not only that, it added a length to my short lashes I didn’t think was possible for a drugstore mascara. My lashes were longer and bolder with this black brown shade. Bonus: you do need a make-up remover to get this one off therefor it must be truly waterproof, right?
2. CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom by LashBlast Waterproof Mascara instantly gives you those longer lashes you crave, and it does not clump no matter how many coats you put on your teeny lashes. I loved that it also leaves your lashes feeling feathery light and full. This one is a staple in my house.
3. L’Oreal Voluminous Original Waterproof Mascara. This mascara protects and conditions those precious lashes while it adds volume and length. I like that the mascara added volume but no clumps, ever. I also appreciated the small but plush brush that helped to deliver just the right amount of mascara on those tiny eyelashes in the corners of my eyes. Can I have three favourites?
4. Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara. For a natural but waterproof look it’s hard to beat this mascara. It adds a little length and stays right where you put it. It’s less dramatic, but you can count on it to stay on through the pool, the heat and the tears.
5. Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Mascara. Although this mascara does a great job plumping up those eyelashes I found the big brush a little too awkward to get the job done right. A great colour and adds the length you need if you have a steady hand.
So which mascara will I be throwing in my make-up bag this weekend? Number two is the hands down winner for my Wedding event needs. I’ll be counting on it to get me through the heat of the outdoor cocktails, the misty moments, and maybe even some hot dancing too. Three cheers for whoever the brilliant Mama was who first created the magic mascara.

I’ve been using L’oreal Voluminous forever, I love it! And now I’m in the market for a good hypoallergenic, easy to use mascara for my daughter who will start wearing a tiny bit of makeup when she enters junior high school this September.
