Yesterday I took a trip to the mall to spend some quality time with my two favourite girls. We went to Build-A-Bear Workshop® a great place to connect with both your kids and your inner fashionista! Where else can you walk in empty handed, and walk out with a new best friend! (Umm dressed up just the way you please) I’ve been a fan of the Build-A-Bear Workshop® experience for years!
We were greeted warmly by smiling staff and spent a very fast hour and a half creating some new loves.
First step, checking out and choose from the massive selection of stuffed beauties. Included on those magical shelves is everything from the cutest of bears to Papa Smurf, to Chipmunks to Muppets!
Is it bad that I was very tempted to make myself a Miss Piggy?
After some thought my girls ended up selecting the cutest little monkey and a super soft koala bear.
Next step. Time to get stuffed! The girls get to decide if they want a firm stuffed animal or one with a little more squish. This stage of the Build A Bear WorkshopR also brings on the magic. With a little help from the enthusiastic staff, my girls were encouraged to pick a heart to put into their zoo animals. They rubbed those hearts, warmed them up and gave them a quick kiss before inserting them into the bodies of their new babies. The sentimental Mama in me loves this part
Time for a quick “wash” to fluff the babies up!
Then time to accessorize!! Oh wait, are they boys or girls? I think every Build-A-Bear in our house is a girl, this time, both of my daughters chose to make boys. Boy clothes is was, and there was lots to choose from.
The final product included shoes for the Koala and shades for the monkey. Sadly, the Harley Davidson jacket did not go home with us, apparently it just“wasn’t his style”.
There is always something special about taking the time to play with your babies, bringing home these little lovies at the end of the day is just an added bonus!
Another special little something I learned while on my wee shopping spree, Build-A-Bear Workshop® is looking for Huggable Heroes!!
Since 2004, more than 100 exceptional young people have been recognized as Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes®. The Huggable Heroes program supports thousands of causes and champions the efforts of young people who are truly making a difference. Now Huggable Heroes is looking to add 10 amazing new young people to their incredible roster. Do you know someone ages eight to 18 that makes a difference in your community? In an effort to recognize these young leaders and volunteers making positive contributions to the community the ninth annual search for Huggable Heroes® has begun!
“The 10 selected Huggable Heroes will each receive $10,000 ($7,500 in the form of an educational scholarship from Build-A-Bear Workshop and $2,500 from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation to be donated to a registered charity of their choice). In addition, the Huggable Heroes will receive a trip for themselves and one parent, or legal guardian, to St. Louis, home of Build-A-Bear Workshop World Bearquarters, where they will be celebrated for their work, participate in a professional photo shoot, and take part in a community service project.”
To read the stories about the Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes and learn more about the program, visit buildabear.com/huggableheroes or pick up an entry form at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores.
The deadline to nominate your Huggable Hero is February 27th. Open to residents of the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada

What a great program! Love when companies recognize the truly good in society rather than the glam.
Our girls LOVE Build-A-Bear. Thankfully for my checking account the nearest one is 8 hours away.
